Recommended Posts

Gosh all have done so well....lost so much weight...,Me 13 freakin pounds! Banded 11/3 I just got my 4th fill on Wed and can hardly eat anything....if I don't lose this time I am not sure what I will do. I am going to the gym 3-4 times a week...just so dang frustrated. To be honest right now I am not sure I am glad I got banded. :-(

I am so amazed at how well everyone is doing. To me any loss at all is doing great. I have to admit like I have read, if I have a bad week or two it is usually, though not always, something I am eating (that I shouldn't) or something I am not doing (that I should-like getting my but off the couch!!)

God bless all of us for trying to make ourselves healthier, happier people!!:tongue_smilie:

hey everyone i'm looking for some advice. has anyone had a cold or flu yet since getting the band? i've been fighting a cold for a few days but i think i may have lost this round. my throat is killing me and i literally cant eat anything. it feels like everything is getting stuck even liquid is a challenge. does anyone know if this is normal when you get sick? i havent had a recent fill so im assuming that being sick has affected the band somehow. just checking to see if anyone else has experienced this?:tongue_smilie:

I'm sorry you're going through this, it sounds awful! I haven't been sick since I've been banded. There were two days, though, that I was very emotionally distraught and had a similar experience. I was only able to get liquids down. Not easily, but they went down, so I drank Protein Shakes. It got a little better each day.

I wouldn't hesitate to call my doctor. Especially if you aren't able to get any Protein shakes in.

Please let us know how you're doing!

Ive lost 24 lbs to date and don't go to the gym ever. I actually dont even exercise. Between work and 2 year old twins, I am too tired to do so. I guess I am somewhat active chasing them around and now that the weather's nicer we walk to the park and go outside. My eating has never been the same. I throw up alot since I got my band, PB frequently. I was filled and asked for a total unfill cause I could not keep foood down. I dont regert my decision, there are days I doubt why I did this, but loosing 24 lbs and not gaining any back is worth the sacrifice.

Man, I have completely fallen off the wagon the last couple of weeks. I'm still down 40 but have not been eating good and have only been to the gym 4 times in the last two weeks. Time to renew my commitment!

I went nuts with sweets while in New Orleans for my son's wedding. I've been stuck at the same weight (up a pound actually) for several weeks. I could probably use another fill, but my trip to Africa is April 4th and I need to wait until after that. I know I won't eat too much there!! I'll probably schedule a fill for early May.

jms, that's great about your trip! My Dr is the same, he said not to get any fills the month before my trip. So, I have an appt to get a fill (maybe) mid April, then my trip is late May, and my next appt is in June. I'm off to Germany and Italy! Woo Hoo! I love to travel!

Take pictures!!!! And post some here! My daughter is a "GATOR" (goes to UFL) and we have a Travelin Gator Bear that we're taking to have in a lot of our photos, in place of the 'Travelin Gnome'.

take care!

SunnyOne - try tracking your calories on a site like TheDailyPlate.com for a few days to a week and see if you are putting yourself into 'starvation' mode. If you are burning off nearly what you are eating, your body may be fighting you on the weight loss thing. I've read of that happening to several bandsters, so check it out and keep letting us know how you're doing. If that doesn't give you the answers you need, by all means check back in with your doctor and see if they have any suggestions / help for you. Don't give up! :)

Mom2two - that must have been so frustrating for you to have to be completely unfilled - if your weight loss slows down or even stalls, consider getting a small fill. Maybe the last one just went too far...I'd hate for you to have gone through all of this just to have a tool that isn't working for you...have you talked to the doctor about what you are experiencing? It's not normal to PB frequently - maybe something happened to your band? Please talk to your doctor, and in the meantime - hang in there!

Hi everyone! As this is such a popular thread, i'm placing the link here to another one that was started today. If you have an opportunity to check it out, please do. I've talked with others and was asked to put the thread out here to see how much interest there is. It's voting, but you can also reply if you have suggestions, questions, comments, etc. It's about the possibility of having a LBT 5K Run!

Click the link below to see the other thread, vote, and/or make comments and suggestions.

wow! you never go to the gym? that is amazing. and you have had pretty good weight loss. i also work and have 2 kids a 4 year old son and my duahgter is 19 months and they keep me moving, but for me i know that the scale is a at snails pace if i dont workout. im at the gym 5 dyas a week at 5:30 am. whatever you are doing seems to be working out for you. the pb'ing, that sucks but hopefully you and your doc can get you at that ever so elusive sweet spot that we all long for, not to tight but tight enough. good luck to you!

Hey SunnyOne,

Hang in there! I was banded Nov. 20th and a couple of weeks ago, I got my fourth fill and I have finally started to lose weight and see a difference. It's way more difficult to try to "cheat the band" per se now than previously. I know everyone is different, but I have lost nearly 10 lbs. in two weeks or so with this fill. I totally understand your frustration. However we can do this!

Keep up the good work because you're worth it!

Your trips to Germany and Italy sound more exciting, but I'd definitely gain some weight there!! I am checking your ticker out and you've lost a couple more pounds than me, got banded about the same time and weigh 2 pounds less!!! Are you still losing steadily or are you at a plateau like me right now?

I confess to never working out either. I occasionally get on the exercise bike. I try to do my physical therapy exercises a few times a week, but they are not a work out. Exercise causes me too much pain, but I'm hoping that improves as time goes on as I really know I need it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
