How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

but please explain to me how I can eat steak with no prob, but pudding gets stuck each and every time. Truly freaky, no rhyme or reason

I know what you mean. Im fine with canned tuna fish, but cant eat steamed or grilled fish of any kind. And i just found out this past weekend that i definitely can not eat rice. But steak, ground beef, chicken, theyre all fine.

Good luck to you! Youre doing great!

Hi Notorious Novembers!

Checking in...had my third appt with my band doc yesterday - I'm down a few pounds, and feeling pretty good. My loss is not as fast as either of us would like, and I was still feeling some hunger between meals, so he gave me a small fill.

I definately FEEL the restriction today! I just had a Protein shake (1 day of liquids, 1 day of mushies after a fill is his rule) and I had to sip it, not just swallow it. That means to me that I've got a slightly better level of restriction, and I'm hoping for big losses after this.

My exercise routine remains the same for now - walking (every morning with DDog, DD and DH) a half-hour walk at lunchtime (weather permitting - just added a BIG hill to my route - puff puff) and rowing at night (half-hour). I'll try to fit in a weight lifting routine at home, but I'm also taking college classes and right now my Statistics class is kicking my butt! :)

I'm happy that I'm down a couple of sizes, though, and so far I'm relatively happy with my progress.

When you guys PB do you actually throw up what you eat? I vomit, but the food doesn't come up, just big slugs of saliva. It's totally disgusting, and doesn't relieve the pain at all, I had an episode today that lasted 45 minutes, and vomited 6 or 7 times, but never could get the food up.

Hi Elyse,

I just had one of those long PB sessions last night...you're right - totally disgusting! For me, it was also big slugs of saliva, and some food did come back up. I was so uncomfortable I almost went to the hospital, but a cup of hot tea seemed to loosen me up and I was okay the rest of the night. I'm not sure what exactly makes the difference - I think the saliva comes when something is partway between the top and the bottom of the stoma (small opening). If something is "covering" it, I would think that might come back up. I'm not sure, and I'm not a doctor, so take this with a pound of salt.

For me, it was VERY uncomfortable. I've had a couple of times where I got a lot of saliva, and a lot of burping, but nothing like this. What caused this marathon session? Soft scrambled eggs and some rice. I think it was the rice that did me in...I didn't have a problem with it until this last fill.

Congrats on hitting the big 40! Can't wait until I get there too...

Delivered and Brockbabe - thanks so much!

I've come to the conclusion that anything dry (meat that's reheated, rice) or sticky (pudding!) is just a no go for me. That's cool, I can certainly live with that rather than PBing. Do you find that right after a fill you shed a ton of weight right away? I was filled last Friday, and have lost 7 lbs in a week, and I haven't been to the gym once this week and haven't really eaten that great.

Hey Elyse,

Yep - I think that's why I had trouble with the rice this time...it wasn't doused in a sauce or gravy (just kidding). I'm hoping for the 'shed a ton of weight' side effect from this fill.

So far today, I've had instant grits for Breakfast, 1 pkg of Pringles stix (about 90 calories, usually eat WAY more than 1) split over 2 Snacks, some chicken from the chinese food lunch my employer provided today, and 70% of an apple - the apple made me full before it was gone.

I have noticed that I'm less likely to "push" my full feeling now...I'm afraid to PB again!

I'm really hoping that I will lose a bunch - I'd like to get to 230 soon!

Hey everyone, It's great to see everyone doing well. I've had my 3rd fill and won't be back to the Dr's till June!! Although the scale isn't moving as fast as I would like i can feel the difference in my body & clothes. I have a bankers band and can't comfortably eat before 9am... I drink a Protein Shake on my way into the office or put Protein Powder in my coffe and drink that along the way. My favorite Non Scale moment was this week. I had to do a presentation for the President of our company and I wanted to look nice and wear a dress so a friend of mine offers to let me borrow a dress!! I was like your tiny A$$ is not going to have anythign to fit me!! well she pulled it out l looked at the tag and it said Medium!! Well to my suprise I tried it on and it Fit wonderfully.... I truly cried and said FINALLY!!:) Although I'm not that size on this blessed bottom I have I was truly excited that this dress fit me and then all day at wok everyone was like DAMN!! You look HOT!! Haven't heard that in 18 years!!.

Everyone keep your head ..keep eating well...and enjoy those Non Scale moments because they mean just as much if not better than the numbers on that damn scale!! Big Hugs!!

Hey Heather,

This is great! Thanks for sharing. So many times, we get so...focused on the number on the scale that we lose sight per se, of the progress we've made in other areas -- nonscale victories! I like to read this forum because it helps me to be more appreciative of my progress regardless of how slow at times!

Anyway, thanks for sharing and KUTGW!

Checking in as well. Doing pretty good after my last fill. I have lost 9 plus pounds in less than three weeks. Had a small fill three weeks ago. 1st week I lost 5.4 pounds, last week I lost 2.4. scale this morning showed me down again. So I think I can get 23 pounds off by Memorial Day weekend. Total now is 50 pounds.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Jewels! Havent talked to you in a while, but that is such great news! You are doing fantastic! We were banded on the same day!

I'd like to share my news, too! I have had both an SV and a NSV this weekend!

SV: I've been plateaued at 206 for over a month! Found out I was not getting enough calories (averaged about 900 a day) so I increased my calories to 1100 by adding a Protein Bar snack in the afternoon, AND i starting running in prep for a biathlon and i've dropped 2 lbs in 3 days! Whoo Hoooo!!!!!!

NSV: I went shopping today for something to wear to a White Coat Ceremony for my daughter next weekend. When I started my lapband journey I was buying 22's, and sometimes a 20. Today I tried on and bought a comfortable size 14! And not a 14W, just a regular 14! OMG! I started crying, too, in the fitting room!

Sorry to blabber on, but it's hard to find someone who actually understands what these NSVs mean, except on here! And my next support group isnt for 2 weeks! LOL

Take care, and Hugs to you Jewels, and all!

Rhonda

Rhonda~

That is so awesome. I love buying new clothes that are alot smaller. Today I bought reg 16 jeans (w/ stretch) and tried on 22 shirts too big- ended up with 18 shirts. It sure feels good.

The other day I tried on my daughters prom dress from 4 years ago. It fit. My husband asked why I was playing dress up. Told him to get ready to re-marry me... lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
