How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

I was banded on November 24th, 2008. So far to date (2/4) I have lost about 28 pounds. I feel great. After my first fill ( 2cc's) I felt n o restriction at all. My doctor told me that was normal. I just went back this week for my second fill ( 3cc's) Now I have a total of 5cc's. I am now hoping for more restriction.

I just had my third fill yesterday and am on liquids until tomorrow. I will then be on mushies for two days, then back to solids.

I am doing well, in my opinion and in the opinion of my doc.

Learning what to eat and what not to eat and what not to eat at certain times of the day. That part is hard.

I'm still not willing to let the Notorious Novembers go to the back-burner yet. I was banded November 24th 2008 and just had my second fill, to 5.5cc in a 14cc band. I'm finally feeling some restriction and burping up a lot of the steak/chicken that I've eaten. The band will definately be helping me make good choices. I am still the same weight as 2 weeks ago, but am looking forward to small weight loss each month. Good luck all and keep up the fight. It is a fight afterall.

I had fantastic restriction for a couple of weeks, not so much now. I note too though that I am stress eating and dealing with some old demons. Not a lot of weight loss happening. I need to do the five day pouch test to clean the carbs out of my system and calm down the cravings. My SO got laid off three weeks ago and its been a scary time.

Whoever recommended my-calorie-counter.com---Thanks!! I've been tracking mine for a week now and realize I've put my body into starvation mode. Only eating 1000 calories a day and then working off 600 at the gym. Bad bad bad. So, I'm on a mission to get in at least 1500 calories a day. Very difficult while eating only lots of veggies and meat with no appetite!

That is my fav site it worked for me in the beginning I was starving myself. Question what is the routine you do to burn 600 Calories.

I had my third fill 3cc in 10cc band on Wednesday and WOW...... finally restriction. Have lost 32 lbs and was banded 11/11/08 and finally having to re-learn how and what to eat. Sure is challenging! Others have really commented this past week about my body changes and I LOVE IT!

I thought it was you that recommended it, Heather! Thanks! My gym routine is 30 minutes of high intensity interval on the elliptical (start at about 5, do two minutes, then up to 10 on resistance for 2 minutes going as fast as I can, then repeat, for thirty minutes). Then I do strength training for 30 minutes, keeping my heart rate up....squats at 50 lbs, free weights on shoulders, and arms, cable machine for triceps and obliques. Tons of ab work....on the ball and the incline bench. The last three days I've done P90x....which is a killer. I can barely walk, and I work out five days a week at the gym! I've had my hamstrings and quads hurt, but never my rear end, and it's killing me!

gentylwind, I agree those demons are hard to break. I am so used to stress eating and cannot find a way to live without stress. I pray that a job will open up and your household can get back to normal.

:cursing::mad:I was banded 11/21 and I need help. I am so frustrated with no weightloss for three weeks that I am ready to give up on myself and the band. I was out of my house for 6 days due to the ice storm last week, but what about the two weeks before that. And, what do I do but go to food for comfort. I have had one fill and my doctor will not discuss a fill closer than 8 weeks apart. I have an appt. for 3/18. Throw me a lifeline, please. I am ready to just eat what I want and never go back to the dr. I can eat everything but bread, so my head says just forget you have the band....and I could. I could just admit I am a failure AGAIN and eat, eat, eat. I don't want to give up, but I eat small amounts, never more than half if that. I exercise and/or walk daily. What else can I do. I started using my calorie counter this week. I am staying at or less than 1200 which is what my dr. recommends. I feel like such a failure and I am ready to give up. Maybe 26 pounds is all I get to lose! Any advice other than the 5 day pouch test.

Please don't give up on yourself yet, hopefully you will get more restriction once you get your second fill. If you are sticking to 1200 calories a day then maybe you have just hit a plateau? My weight loss stalled for a couple of weeks, I think the body needs to catch up on itself . The worst thing you can do now is to stabbotage all the good work you have done so far.

I have no special advice other than try and increase your exercise and make every effort to make good food choices.

I too was banded in November and had my first fill on 12 December. I have been busy so haven't had time for another fill but its booked for 24 February so not long to wait. after a three week plateau, where i lost nothing I have lost 3lbs this week.

good luck to you and why not call and see if your surgeon will agree to bringing your fill forward a little as you are struggling.

Sue

Hang in there, your body has to reset it's metobolic rate again. I haven't lost in about 2 weeks either but I know that eventually it will break past that plateau and start going down again. Just takes patience and time. :)

Hi Novembers,

Can someone tell me what the pouch test is? I haven't heard of it before.

I can sympathize with the people who are stuck at a plateau. I took my grand kids on a vacation two weeks ago and came back two pounds heavier. I don't have any restriction and I found myself eating and drinking things that weren't the best choices for me. I also had been drinking Water with my meals. Not the best thing to be doing. Since I got back, I have dropped those two pounds and am back on track but his puts me at about a month with very little weight loss. Had a little talk with myself and then moved on. No sense crying over what I can't go back and change.

Congrats to all of you who are doing so well! Does anyone have any hints on what to have when you have the urge for something sweet. It doesn't happen to me often, but when it does, fruit or yogurt just don't satisfy the urge. Cindy

Sometimes what I find helps is to do something similiar to South Beach - go 2 days of eating just Protein only. (omelets & turkey bacon for Breakfast, chicken, hamburg, turkey, steak, fish for dinner) with cheese sticks as a snack. Only for 2 days - this jump starts your system - by day 3 add vegetables and day 4, add fruits & nuts. I don't have much restriction and I'm too hungry to do the pouch test. It makes me crave more foods and then I go crazy eating the bad stuff. I did the protein thing the week before my surgery and dropped 5 pounds. Plus, it's alot of food but then you don't become quite as hungry. I should be doing it now also.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
