Who went into surgery & wake up with no band?

Just wondering how many of you went in for surgery to wake up being told your liver was too fatty and couldn't do it. My dr doesn't require a pre-op diet and I'm worried. If you did wake up with no band, what was your BMI? Mine is 48. Thank you, Leilani

I think a lot of physicians are different. I have heard of this happening. I was not required to do a pre-op diet either and on the day of my surgery my BMI was 52.5. My liver was fatty but the surgery went well and the band was placed with no complications. :frown:

Hope everything works out for you.

Yep happened to me. I had a BMI of over 67 before I started the preop diet. He had me diet for 3 weeks and I lost 15 pounds but cheated. My lesson is to do what your doctor says....if he doesn't think you need the preop diet, you don't. If he tells you to drink spring water for a week, do that. LOL Follow YOUR doc's instructions (not the anecdotal info you get here) and you'll be fine!
