Banded yesterday!

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I'm writing from Northern Virginia and was banded by Dr. Salameh yesterday. I am very excited about what I can accomplish with the band. My doctor is a dream. I am very dehydrated from the hospital stay and just doing my little sips of Water and broth. My port site hurts and my tummy is a little distended, but I think I will feel much better tomorrow. I tried for more than a year to get coverage for the surgery, finally switched insurance companies and it happened within a month. I'm a happy woman.

Bests to all,

Carly

Congratulations! Follow the rules and you'll love it. There's a whole new you waiting! Don't let anyone tell you "being thinner can't buy you happiness"....it totally made me a happier healthier person. I've got my confidence back, walk with spring in my step and it's literally cured my HBP, backache, snoring, cholesterol problems and a host of others. Happiness comes from being healthier and you're one step closer. Way to go!

Congrats on your surgery!

I have a question for you. What insurance DID you have and what insurance did you switch to, just out of curiosity. I'm in VA also.

Good luck to you!

Hi there,

I had Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama, which made we under go six months of a supervised diet program with my primary physician -- plus I was working with a surgeon who was not in my plan. Then I was laid off from work and switched to my husband's Blue Cross/Blue Shield FEP (federal) program and was immediately accepted.

Thank you for your well wishes,

Carly

Congrats Carly! I hope that you are feeling great today considering it's the second day of BANDSTERLAND! The second day may be easy for some and harder for others but, sit back and relax and take it easy because, you will need the the stength for the rest of your bandster days. Keep us posted and relax.

I was banded on Sept.8th and I am still as excited as I was when I found out I was approved and then banded.

Hi everyone,

Great job, NinaWoo! You are having terrific results!

I am nearly two weeks banded and I feel great! I have lost 26 pounds and am starting mushies. Everything is healing up well, although my port site is still a little sensitive. I've started exercising a little on the stationery bike, and overall -- I couldn't be happier. Thank you guys for such terrific support and I wish the best to each and every one of you.

I have BCBS FEP as well and I got approved in a little over a week after submitting the information. I've been told that BCBS FEP is so much better than regular BCBS.

Congrats! I was banded on Tuesday 11-11-08. I feel pretty good, but so full. I feel like I'm going to explode. I'm assuming this is normal. I've had 1 Protein shake-100calories, and 50 oz of Water. I am trying to have some broth with a laxative in it but having a hard time. Best of luck to you and everyone else.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
