Rash at Port Incision-No coincidence

Recommended Posts

About 1 month after surgery, and before my first fill, I developed an extremely itchy rash over my port incision. I showed it to my dr. , and he didnt think it was a big deal, and prescibed a steroid cream. It helped with the itching, but the rash has not gone away.

Now my best friend, who had her surgery 2 weeks after me has developed the same rash...port incision only. There has to be something to this...even though my dr blew it off, I would like to know what is causing this. I have not done anything different to that incision to cause a rash there...why have we both gotten rashes in one place only?

Has anyone else experienced this, and have you gotten any answers from your dr.?

Thanks for you help!smile.gif

I am 6 weeks postop and had the same thing happen. My surgeon said it was simply a rash, but if I was worried I should go see my Primary Dr. So I did b/c it started to spread and get bigger and more red. My Dr said it was some type of dermatisis and she px me a strong hydrocortisone cream. It has worked, but there have been a few days that if I dont use it, it starts to come back. As long as I use it it goes away. I am going to continue with it until it is gone for 2 weeks then go off the cream and see what happens. I don't really think it is big deal, but just kinda bothers me since it isn't "supposed" to be there. Sorry I don't have any better info for you.

I was just getting ready to call the doctor. I'm only 11 days post-op, but developed red itchy bumps last night...the only difference is that it is around the port incision and the one next to it. So far it hasn't gotten any worse than what showed up last night. I've been putting bacitracin on my incisions to help them heal, and this stops the itching too.

"contact dermatitis" is what my Surgeon told me today, I have the red bumps. and I also have huge red marks about 2 fingers long above my port. Almost looks like a two inch tape marks. I have had it for a week and was told to use Benadryl cream. Hope this helps...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
