Am I making the right decision?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Im Brittney. I have been thinking about having the Lap Band surgery for a year or so now. I went to go see a surgeon about a year ago and he gave me all of the information I needed. I wanted to try and do everything I could before I went to the drastic measures of surgery. I was on diet pills and they worked for a little while. I lost 30lbs since January which is NOTHING! I have finally decided that I am sick and tired of being overweight, and I have decided to go through with the surgery.... Am I making the right decision? Please give me your thoughts! :pray2: Thanks all!:grouphug:

Sounds like you've made your mind up to have the surgery anyway, so yes I think you're making the right decision. You are not just jumping into it, you have been thinking about it for a year. I say go for it!

Hi Brittney!

Like you I thought long and hard about getting the surgery and after countless diets such has programs, pills and special food. I did lose some weight but I always gain it all back and sometimes more, like you I got sick and tired of being overweight and decided to get the surgery. My surgery is set for Nov 3 and I know this is just a tool and I have to work hard but hey the results are going to be great. So my opinion to your question is that if you are ready to commit GO FOR IT GIRL!!!!! :grouphug:

Take Care!

Only you can answer that question for yourself!! For me, it was definitely the right decision!!!!! I cannot tell you all of the positive impacts this decision has meant for me. The greatest impact is that it gave me control of my life again. My health and fitness is mine to manage. I am not on a diet! I have changed my lifestyle.

I thought long and hard and spent all the money on things that did not help me to change my core. I spent the $ on the one thing I knew would give me a real shot at the change I desired. It worked for me. Good luck! I know it will work for you too!!!!

Like everyone else here, not much has worked in the past. Weight Watchers several times, pills before they were taken off the market and special foods. Lost weight each time and then gained it back and then some. I take way too many meds a day. I want to be around for my grandkids someday. I want to live a healthy life style.

When I found out my insurance would cover it- I jumped for joy. My mother in law went to Mexico because her insurance wouldn't cover it. She took money out of her 401k and did Lap Band in July. Now she's starting to feel & look great and my father in law said they would have lost that money anyways in the stock market. lol

I couldn't believe how jealous I was when she told me she was doing it. It was something I had thought about for years but never really talked about it. Now that my husbands new company will pay for it- that's all I think about night and day.

I say go for it... Do something for yourself. I know in my family. I always put the husband and kids before me. It's time for mom.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
