My fiancee is going to be having the lap band done in 6 months or so and I'm nervous because since we have been dating this will her first surgery. Just would like to know how it was for other people maybe other guys whose significant others have been through it. How was it for you before? Were you nervous?

My name is Bryce. My e-mail is brycewagner575@msn.com

It's totally individual. I was lucky; I had little to no pain, slept fine from night 1, healed well, no nausea issues etc. I STILL have no restriction and I'm cheerful as a bird. (an insane bird but still....LOL)

Others have issues from pain to depression, nausea, vomiting, can't sleep in their beds, have bad gas (they fill you with gas to move things apart and make the surgery easier on person and surgeon) and so on. Some lose their appetite right away,, some unlucky people wake up starving and are mean as junk yard dogs (or worse) because many of us are on liquid diets for the first week or two post op.

So much depends on your fiance and her surgeon! and fate! and who knows what else! Just be prepared for her to be moody, (she may not be at all) in pain (she may not be) nauseated, not hungry (or the opposite)....in other words, take your cue from her! :smile2:

Depending on your "couple" dynamic, just being nice, solicitious, etc can make a world of difference. AND don't be her food police either. Good luck to her!

OH Surgery takes about 1 1/2 hours or so but her surgeon can tell you what to expect when. She may or may not have to stay overnight.

It's honestly not bad for most of us!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
