Anyone In The Beaumont/baytown Area?

Recommended Posts

Hi - My name is Donna and I am newly banded. I was banded on 6/1/05 by Dr. Spivak in Houston. I work in Baytown, but live closer to Beaumont and I was wondering if there was anyone in either of these areas who would like to start a support group and have monthly get togethers or something! I feel like I am flying blind - I just want to make sure that I am doing everything correctly. I go for my first postop visit tomorrow. I am nervous because I am not sure if I will be getting a fill or not and I am so scared it is going to be painful. Should I take someone with me just in case? Will I be able to drive? It is about an 80 mile commute for me from the office to my house. Thanks for all the support on here. I have really enjoyed being part of lapbandtalk.com

Donna

Kellymoos,

This is great to know. I live in Silsbee, and am scheduled for my lap band on 7/20, with Dr. Spivak in Houston. Any info. is greatly appreciated. This forum and been a huge help with research and questions, but a face to face meeting would be awesome.

Thanks!

I live in La Porte (near Baytown), my sister lives in Baytown, and Dr. Spivak is our dr., too. She is already banded and I hopahopahope to be week after next.

I think it would be a great idea to get together!

Count me in! If you want to private message, we can exchange phone numbers or emails.

Colleen

So you are happy with Dr. Spivak? So far, he and his staff have been awesome.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

The meetings are every first Monday of the month at the Handlebar on 9th Avenue at around 6 p.m. I think for the month of July it will be on the 11th since the first monday is on the 4th. I will try and let everyone know when I get the information!!

I totally love D.. Spivak. I had my first postop visit on thursday 6/30 4 weeks out and lost 20 lbs! yipeee! He said I didn't need a fill. He said as long as I am losing I am doing good. He said I should be loosing at least 6-7 lbs a month. If I loose less than 6 lbs this month then come back and get first fill. I must say that is what I am most worried about. I hope is doesn't hurt too much. If anyone can describe it I wish they would do so.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
