Approval from Aetna finally

:biggrin:Aetna Called me today and I was finally approved, I didn't think this day was ever going to come. I did the 3 month diet and submitted everything at the end of June. My weight history from 2006 was missing so I had to appeal and it took 2 months to go through appeal process. But it was all worth it today when they called me. After work I am going to go pay my $1000 down so they can schedule my surgery..If anyone else has Aetna there really is hope out there:biggrin: don't give up and be persistent it will happen as long as you meet the guideline.

For those of you with Aetna PLease call to see if your employer has written weight loss surgery into your policy. If they have not you will NOT be approved for any reason at all. I would suggest checking that out before you do anything!!! Call yourself!!! The suregeons office has you do all this stuff, and you shell out all this money, and then find out they won't even consider this. This is what happened to me. I wish I myself would have checked with the insurance company first!!!!

Thank God I'm one of the lucky ones who do have this included in my plan . I have read so much on here how people do not check with their insurance companies first .I am grateful that I found this site before making my decision to go through with seeking out help . I just wished everyone who is looking for a healthier life style could get it through the insurance companies because in the long run it will benefit both parties .

Without the weight from 2007.. You may run across some issues.. Did you ever go to a quick care or someplace where they may have possible weighed you.. If not you need to make sure you submit a letter stating that you were not seen by a dr in 2007 but you are submitting 2006 and 2008. Just make your letter as detailed as possible.. They accepted my pregnancy weight for 2006 so I am sure they will accept whatever you can come up with.

I've been denied and then the appeal was denied and now I'm on my second appeal. It's been 4 long months - this after the 6 month supervised, sleep study, yada yada yada. I'm really hoping I will win the second appeal. I meet all the criteria except I haven't had a high enough BMI consistently for 2 years. Shame on me for dieting and getting the BMI down with in the 2 year Aetna requirement :wink2:

I have to keep trying though, I really feel like it's my last option.
