are you measuring how much liquid you are drinking? You might not be getting all that you think you are...also try Jello and popsicles to get in additional hydration *sugar free of course.

Give your surgeon a call and see if a stool softener would be appropriate...MAKE SURE you are getting those basic 64oz a day down!

I am sure I am drinking enough, but will drink more. Unfortunatley I can not take stool softeners, don't laugh, but I am highly allergic to them. I will try the popcycles and jello, but I am concerned that I have to take a multivit., and they alone cause constapation. Adding that to my already existing problem...I should call the bariatric center...

Yep...you are right about that! those Multivitamins will back things up significantly. Call the center...maybe they can get creative with some natural supplement to make 'things happen'....I will be hoping you get relief soon!

Hello to all and Happy Holidays!

This year I have to wait til a few days after Christmas for my gift- I am getting banded on Dec. 30th and I am very excited- and scared, of course. Anything anyone can tell me about the anisthesia, procedure and recovery would be very helpful- glad I found this site!

Take care, Stephanie:lol:

Stephanka917, the anesthesia was the easiest part. I had an IV in my hand pumping fluids during the hour before surgery. When the doctor came in, he struck up a great conversation while messing around with the bag and the next thing I know I was told the surgery went great and I was in recovery. It took a good 1/2 hour to wake up.

Good luck with your surgery. Do not worry. You'll be comforted all the way.

Tomorrow is my day too. I am so excited for the surgery and just a little nervous about the outcome. This will be the best christmas ever for me. This surgery marks the first step to a fresh new year. Good luck to all those being banded and please lets be active in replies about our progress. I know if I hit a slump I can come to this site and find comfort.

Only 90 minutes more of work! I've been reading about the shoulder pain some people have and I hurt my shoulder Sunday. Fortunately it healed quick and any shoulder pain I get will be from the surgery. Our doctor told us the steps they take to minimize that, so here is hoping I don't have it. I hope to be back online Thursday evening, watching my big screen and surfing the net on my laptop.

wow! this time tomorrow several of us will be banded! We are all feeling nervous and those of you who posted your experiences I am soo thankful for! That sure helps to hear how easy it all is. Its snowing like crazy here in Iowa, so I am hoping I can make the hour drive to my surgery tomorrow! I wish we could all be there in person with each other, we will just have to be there in spirit. My surgery is at 9am central time, I have to be there at 7am. I am hoping like heck I can come home the same day--I also have to have my gallbladder removed. But thursday another ice storm is coming in Iowa, so I hope to make it home. I dont want to push myself, but at the same time, I want to be home. My parents will be taking care of me.

Congrats to those who have already had surgery. Tell us how the liquid diets are going? What are you all doing to divert yourself from all of these holiday gatherings? avoiding them? focusing more on the people not the food?

God Bless you all! and to those of us tomorrow... a poke of the needle and then we will wake up and be reborn...given a 2nd lease on life! How will you spend your skinny days?!?!

Thanks. Surgery is scheduled for 7am, up at 4, at the hospital at 5am. Its too cold for the doctor to be trying to make an afternoon tee-time.

Hi Everybody,

I wanted to wish all of you who were banded or being banded this week the best of luck!!! I know you will all do extremely well. I'm in week 2 of post op and it really hasn't been bad at all. If I can offer you any advice it would be to make sure you have some Gas X strips. Get them before or right after the procedure but make sure you have them. They really do help a lot.

I'm praying that everyone does well and with minimal discomfort!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
