I am really wanting to eat something....but I didn't get any "easy Snacks that would tempt me" It is almost like the cabinets are bare here. I know from past experiences that I cannot resist temptation...if no one sees me eat it....it aint cheatin! I think that is my mind's motto. I don't want to be that way...but it is a character flaw I just cannot shake! I hope having the band will motivate me/us to change my/our lives around! I am actually proud of myself really...I have drank crap all day!!! Jello just isn't my favorite thing in the world...but I twirl it around in my mouth a bit. I made sugar free in all different flavors...but it is the texture I can't hardly tolerate. Anyhoo....I am getting more and more excited and nervous! Good luck ya'll!

I know how you feel. I toyed with the idea of grabbing some things the other day at the store that I knew were no-no's but I won the battle with myself and said NO! LOL There is a first time for everything. Well I start the full liquids tomorrow so DH and I went out to eat this evening and I was good. Had my Protein and some veggies. Still working on that not drinking with my meal thing though. I am going to go ahead and get all the stuff for my bag for Wednesday morning laid out on the bed and make a list for any last minute items to pick up tomorrow. I am also doing some last minute cleaning around the house and making sure all the laundry is done up (even though DH is pretty good about doing his laundry).

Lets all just take a deep breathe and relax and think of all the wonderful things we will be able to do once the weight is coming off. Things like buys smaller clothes, cross our legs, tie our shoes with out straining, exercise without feeling like you are gonna die.....LOL and so much more. I am so excited for us all! I am also having to make sure my DH has all the phone numbers for people he has promised to call or text to let them know I am out of surgery and ok.

Just think friends......by this time next year we will all be looking soooo good and wondering why we didn't do this sooner and why we were ever nervous. Continued Good Luck and Prayers coming everyone's way.

They just called and moved my surgery to 10:30 am - I guess there was a cancellation. I was supposed to have my surgery at 12 noon. So now I have to be there at 8:30 instead of 10am. I am really nervous.

I am dizzy.......and have a headache. I am grouchy as a bear. The dizziness is really worrying me though honestly. I am procrastinating....I haven't packed or anything that I am supposed to be doing! I don't know why I put crap off till the last minute. This clear liquid diet is supposed to be a "bowel prep" ...but (embarrassing) I haven't "done ANYTHING" as far as the bathroom goes. Everyone told me that the clear-liquid diet would cause diarrhea....I am worried that I won't be "cleaned out" LOL....sigh....I need to get this surgery done and over with!!!

I don't feel too bad. I wasn't told to only drink "clear" liquids, but just regular liquids... which is anything you can drink through a straw. I was told that I was only restricted to "clear" liquids on the day of surgery (after surgery, of course), but that I could move on to regular liquids for the next couple of days, then move on to mushies for the rest of the first week until my post-op appointment where we will discuss how I feel and whether I ready to add solids. Since I'm not limited to "clear" liquids, I've been "drinking" Soup. I had a fabulous cream of potato soup at the mall today and just strained out all the goodies. The soup was pretty thin but the flavor rocked! It was also a creamy soup so it was loaded with fat and very satisfying. I actually felt good for several hours after that. I know fattening liquids aren't ideal, but I'm going to deal with that transition AFTER the band when it's easier to feel satisfied! I've got 2 young boys to run after and I can't afford to feel dizzy while driving home from preschool. I also found the "drinkable" Soups from Campbells very good and satisfying as well. The calories aren't that high and when you add up all the liquids for the day, you still come in under 1500, which is healthy. I figure that as long as I'm not drinking milkshakes and melted ice cream, I'm doing good. I also drank a Myoplex Protein Drink and a high Protein Ensure (very tasty, better than Myoplex). I bought a bunch of flavored Vitamin waters (like Propel and Gatorade Ice) for after surgery. I also got some miso soup I plan to strain. I have a huge aversion to the texture of Jello, so that's definitely NOT an option for me. I'm just hoping that I won't even feel very hungry the day of surgery, and hopefully not much the next day either. I've got a lot of "mushies" lined up at home too... I plan to puree a bunch of soups, make mashed potatoes and gravy, and make refried Beans with cheese. I know they're not low fat, but again, I know I will eat a LOT less than I used to and will still be able to lose a little weight. As soon as I can move on to solids, I will start cutting back on the fat (and avoid anything fried... goodbye In-N-Out fries!). I plan to take the beginning very slow. I've put myself through a lot of diet suffering in the past, over and over, and I want to enjoy the journey this time... FOR GOOD! Best of luck to all you 29ers! My procedure is at 8:30 am California time.

I am not dizzy and am amazingly calm. I have all my stuff laid out on the bed in the spare bedroom just not in a bag. Gonna wait until after I brush my teeth in the am probably just to go back over everything. Should be leaving the house in about 10 hrs or so. My DH was so good today to not eat in front of me as this is my only day (ppre-op) of clear liquids. Well we are on the verge of getting the tool we need to make our lives more enjoyable and healthier. I will be thinking of you all tonight and tomorrow. Either I or my DH will get online and let everyone know how it went. Good Luck and my prayers are with you all.

I am just now getting things together. It is almost midnight and I have to be at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. to have surgery at 9:30. I guess I don't have to be too wide awake and energetic anyway! Hope I sleep tonight. I'm nervous a little, but mostly excited. Kinda like when you are on a roller coaster, and it climbs for what seems like forever, and when it gets to the edge you say "Here we go!":w00t:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
