OK, anyone out there banded last week getting hungry??? I am!! Im even hungry right after I eat:mad2:...or should I say drink. I just want something to chew on:drool:. What "food stage" is everyone at. My doc said liquids a week or two. Well, another week of this and....HELP:scared2::tt1:!!! Am I the only one experiencing this?????

Hi, I'm on day 10 and my surgeon told me it will be normal to get hungry, because there is no Fluid in your band yet. As of yesterday, I was on limited liquids (full liquids, but limited). As of now, I'm on pureed food for four days, then soft food for four days, and after that real food as tolerated. I know I my stomach was growling and I really felt hungry when someone else was eating next to me. I tried to ignore it and drink a Protein Shake. It is normal to be hungry. You don't have any restriction yet. The only restriction we feel is from the stomach swelling and maybe our stomach shrinking or being used to not eating from the pre-op diet. My doc said that you really start not being hungry and losing weight after the first fill. Hang in there!

Congrats everyone who has had surgery and I'm glad everyone is doing well!!! Good luck to those who are going this week! You'll do great!!!:tt1:

Sue and Trina, thanks for the help. Im glad Im not the only one with the hunger pains. I did take your advice Sue and made me a combo of 1/2 chicken broth and 1/2 Crm of Celery Soup and blended it real good, then strained the celery strings and had that for lunch. Lunch was @ 11:00 and Im feeling great. Not hungry at all. Maybe I will stick with something other then chicken broth, Jello, apple juice...THANKS!!

Hi everyone...well my filter is in (after 7 hrs. of postponements due to emergency fit-ins)...4-1/2 hours of travel time. Mom got safely to airport...6 hours of travel time. Tomorrow is my pre-op at surgeon & hospital (the scheduler said plan to stay "most of the day" & I refuse to wonder what that means...)4-1/2 hours travel. By next Tuesday DH & I will have traveled 22-1/2 hours of non-vacation time!! One bonus is I now know where most of the rest stop bathrooms are...LOL. Think I'll call it a day. MarilynC

I was banded on 12/1 and still don't have any appetite yet. I'm having food cravings (steak, potatoes, veggies, etc.) in my head, but don't actually feel hunger in my body yet.

Hi fellow December bandsters! I am now officially banded as of Wednesday:thumbup: Most everything went well. I did have a wee little trouble coming out of anesthesia. I was very cold and having trouble catching my breathe. They gave me lots of warm blankets and once i caught my breathe, I was fine.

I feel good. All things considered, I am very pleased with the low level of soreness I have. My pain meds take care of most of it. I've been staying on top of taking it every 4 hrs. Kudos to the bandster that didn't take pain meds! I don't know how you did it, but way to go!

I've had a little gas. Feeling it mostly in my chest and shoulders. I too have been burp-hiccupping a little. The hiccuping part hurts a lil, but getting the gas out is sucha a relief. Walking around helps. Seems to move those bubbles along. I have some Gas-X just in case, but haven't needed to use it yet.

The nurses gave me some yummy Ensure to drink while I was at the hospital. It was the most delicious thing I've had in forever! After being on Optifast for two weeks, the Ensure tasted like a rich dessert in comparison. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my pain meds, I also picked up a six pack of the Ensure. Yummy!

I only needed 2 incisions. I am totally excited about that! My surgery lasted under an hour and my surgeon said things went very well, better than he expected. The staff at the hospital were fantastic and my surgeon was wonderful. They were all so patient, attentive, and helpful. I was so pleased.

Kerry, Rosey and all my other fellow week 2 bandsters, how are ya doing? To all future bandsters- this surgery is so worth everything we have gone through. Wk1 bandsters, thanks for posting so quickly, letting us know how you are and what to expect. All the advice was very helpful.

You all take care and God bless!

Hi Everyone!

I haven't been on the boards in awhile, but I'm two days post-op (banded on 12/10) and I wanted to check in. I'm a little sore, a little hungry and a lot tired. Otherwise, no problems at all. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well.

Hi, I had my surgery on December 5th at 11:45 am and went home the same night at 9:00 pm. They gave me a prescription for Percocet for the pain. Because it was late, we didn't fill it. Around 2 am, I was in extreme pain and was calling from help from God to take away the pain. My mom was with me and woke up to hear me agonizing from the pain. I also had the chills. My husband was sound asleep. My mom went to wake him and he was so sweet to go out at 2 am to get me the prescription filled. After taking the meds, I was able to sleep a bit.

I was in a lot of pain for up to the 3rd day, then by the 4th day, I was feeling a bit better. Very gassy! I had adhesions too when they went in and a mesh from previous surgeries I had so the surgeon said it took a little bit longer to get through, but successful.

Today, I'm so great and happy that I had it done. I only had trouble with having broth because of the smell, it made me sick.

I did very well with the liquids and now am on the mushies :rolleyes2:. I was able to go grocery shopping yesterday with my husband to get my walk in and boy did I get my walk in :cursing:. I was huffing and puffing by the time I got home.

I can't wait for the fill til I can see about the restrictions. I have not been feeling hungry, though I get growling in the stomach and I guess that let's me know I should have something because it makes me nauseated and so I do.

But otherwise, I feel great!

Laurie

Hi everyone, I wanted to say Hi and intoduce myself. :cursing: My date is December 26 as long as I pass my stress test on the 16th. I have to do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet and this is my first day of that. I would appreciate any ideas on what do do to make it a little more tolerable. What's funny is before I drank my morning Protein Shake today I wasn't too hungry, it wasn't very good and now I'm starving! I would like it if anybody has some Soup ideas. Anyway, I am a little scared and excited, I want to be healthy and lighter, take the weight off my knees and back, and so important to me is I want to have a child and be an energetic mommy someday. Good luck to everyone in making your dreams come true, I am proud of all of us for taking this step to change our lives for the better! :rolleyes2: PS. I love the name Holiday Hotties!

Hi All,

I had my band put in yesterday. I am a little sore, a little tired, but I am walking around and feeling good. The thing that hurts the most is hiccupping and coughing. Oh well. I have noticed that warm chicken broth and ice chips in between have been the best. I am also sipping gatorade. Any other suggestions for the next couple of days?

Good luck to all that are going in this week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
