I am going to be shuned

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name for the board is prettyone. I never thought in a million years that I would actually feel that way about myself. I have been banded for 10 months now. I have gone from a size 1X to a size 8 petite. I am only about 10 pounds from my final goal!!!

I am very happy with my experience. And until just last night, felt really great about my experience with my doctor. Dr. Lopez in Mexico. I have read a few horror stories on here, and I do not want to downplay the sadness and heartache these few ladies have gone through, but I am happy with my surgery and Dr. Lopez. The only difficulty I have is that my port has turned a bit sideways, so I will have Dr. Billy (a local doctor) check me out to make sure everything is still okay.

I have a completely new life now. I don't hide away like I use to. I enjoy my life and my 4 children. My husband didn't quite know what to think when I first told him about my desire for the lapband, but now he is a believer! I look into the mirror and I see the lady that married him 14 years ago looking back at me.

Well, hello to everyone else on here. I hope that I haven't upset anyone regarding Dr. Lopez. I just don't think that after over 1,200 surgeries that three problems should be allowed to go without someone saying something decent about him also.

Prettyone

I doubt that you'll be shunned. Just for the record there are others here who are satisfied with their experience with him also.

Welcome to the board!

I'm glad you're happy, but I believe it's a few more than three patients with problems...and that's on this board alone. There are other support boards. But it is nice that you are having success.

Edited to add:

I just noticed on another thread that you are only ten months post op. I am NOT wishing you anything but success here, but for some people, the problems show up a little longer after surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
