Hello,

Good luck with your surgery. I suspect everyone gets nervous - I certainly was - but it will be worth it! You are about to start a fantastic weight loss journey which can transform your life, so I really wish you the best.

I'm assuming you are going private - does your provider not do fills? Also, if you live in Derby(shire), why didn't you go NHS? They have a brilliant facility at the Derby City Hospital with low waiting times.

Hi ,Iv now been banded 6 weeks:smile:, everything went well i cant fault dollan park or WGA who i went with. I had a bad time after the op and they were fantastic,so as long as you dont want the after care id recommend WGA and the nurses at the hosp are lovely.

So far i lost 16lbs but since going back on solids not Soups iv put on 7lbs !!:rolleyes2: LOL .I'm ok with that as i knew that id gain when i started eating and not really looking at my diet till i get my first fill.

I was discharged last Thur and was told i had 4 mills in my band already:eek: although i was told by my surgeon and the staff at WGA id have an empty band ,i do have some restriction i think?? although im not sure, i get a tight feeling in my chest but i can eat almost the same as pre op smaller quantities and cant eat meet to well .But iv not been sick once like another lady who had her op same day same place and she has not lost a lot either and we both had 4mil in at op .

I was just looking at getting fills but so far touch wood my GP has arranged for derby hosp to do my after care, so that's a dietitian and fills:smile:, she already got the funding threw from the PCT so it seems im one of the very lucky few the PCT help like this (but then with my medical history and family history like my GP and the PCT said "its the least they can do".So at the moment im waiting on my first apt ,should get it in the next two weeks, but im also not holding my breath on it as im still expecting somone to turn round and say no lol

So im waiting longer than most to get a fill but there is no point doing one till i see the hospital

Maincat,i did not go NHS as although i have co mobility's (as touched on above) my bmi is not what they will give funding for freely, and i almost definitely would of got funding due to them. I did not have the time to wait as i have been told i need IVF soon but cant have it due to my bmi at the moment (although i dont qualify for funding !) and decided that for my own health and to give me a fighting chance at IVF succeeding i would fund myself. I chose WGA as it would of taken me another year that i did not have to save the extra and i can fund the fills myself (but so far touch wood my GP has sorted that for me:smile: )So really i did not have the time to wait on the referrals and the PCT and it was the est decision for me

I just hope i can get this weight off as gaining weight after the op is a bit discouraging but then as stated im not really taking notice of my diet and not back at the gym for a few weeks yet im going to do it all when i get my fills that is my starting point of this journey i just hope i succeed

Hi Honey,

I was also banded with WGA 7 weeks ago, and I have no complaints what so ever, I got my appointment letters through with no hassle, and was discharged on time too.

I am having my fills with the WLS group, its £120 for the 1st as you need a medical assessment and x-ray then its £80 for each fill after. I've contemplated asking my GP to refer me to the NHS for aftercare but they ave let me down too many times before where my weights concerned that I think i'm just gonna carry on paying, and after Dolan Park NHS hospitals are just not the same!! lol I'm having mine done at Thornbury in Sheffield, I've been to find it today and it's very nice, I have my first fill tuesday and i am TERRIFIED!! i'm still quite restricted, I can only eat a sandwich plate size meal and sometimes i struggle with that, but I don't want to need a fill before xmas and be really restricted, I think ive been lucky post-op, ive read alot of people gain weight, ive lost 24lb since op, but i didnt lose anything pre-op, like most people do, think my body is just awkward!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
