Anyone have a chronic cough that went away after surgery?

I have mild asthma and cough a lot. Sometimes I start coughing and then  (graphic material ahead) start retching and cough up lots of clear fluid. Anyone else have this? I've had chest x-rays and it's not pneumonia. I'm hoping that maybe my fat is putting pressure on my lungs and that's what's causing it. Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Julia,

Do you know if you have a hiatal hernia? I too have asthma and always had a cough. When I got my band the doctor also repaired my hiatal hernia (which I didn't know I had). I no longer have a cough. I believe a lot of my coughing was due to the hernia. I also believe that had a lot to do with my sleep apnea because I haven't used my CPAP since right after surgery and my husband no longer hears me snoring. Some would say that is due to weight loss but I stopped using the CPAP literally 2 days after surgery which was before any loss.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if I have a hiatal hernia. I guess the doctor will fine out when he opens me up. I haven't been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but my husband tells me my snoring can wake the dead. Sounds like it will go away when the weight goes down.
