Reaction around port site

Hello, has anyone had any issues around there port area maybe a reaction to the band or the port itself. I was banded 8/27 and have some pain and a mild rash or discoloring on my stomach near the port site please advise

Were you closed with steristrips? Alot of people develop a rash, and even blisters, from a sensitivity to steristrips. It doesn't always show up right away, so it is possible that it could be showing up now.

I was banded on the 28th and I was closed with glue, so I had no bandages or steristrips.

Maybe what you are seeing is a "rising" bruise. There are deep muscle bruises from the procedure that may not have shown up before, but they often "rise" to the surface after awhile. If you continue to be concerned, call your surgeon. That is what he/she is being paid for, so don't hesitate to use them!

I had the same problem. Just keep the area clean and be careful with your seatbelt. The area around my port was very red, but the doc didn't worry until it got hot to the touch. If you experience that, you need to call your dr as it may be infected. Otherwise, don't worry, it will be fine, maybe even always a little red. Nothing to stress about.
