Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Recommended Posts

Thanks Bluezbandit. I do eat a lot of Protein. I'm sure that my weight loss is not permanently stuck, just on a plateau to let my body catch up to this new way of eating. I do work out 3-4 times a week but I'm trying to up the amount/time of the work outs. Have a great day and hope you feel better soon. Simon

Something that I have heard repeatedly on here is to go to the Goodwill and get clothes while you are in that transition stage. My support group gave us a card for 25% off and also we have a clothes swap at each meeting. The only thing that I have bought was sweat pants..I love comfy new sweats..plus I can work out in them.

I run the clothing swap in our group. Fun.... means a lot of work for me. But hey I also get first chance at the clothing

Hey everyone,

I went for my second fill today. I found out I have the Lap Band brand and it's an Alergen. It holds 10ccs. I now have 5.4ccs and I think I'm pretty close to that "sweet spot". The weight seems to be coming off slowly but they said 1-3 pounds per week is a good pace, so I seem to be right in line. Finally 30 pounds gone FOREVER!!! For a week I did not lose anything but I found that I was snacking on the bad stuff after meals because I was still hungry. Hopefully this fill will help carry me over until the next meal.

That is the same brand I have. Did you get the paper to send in for a free pedometer/radio? I sent mine in about 2 weeks ago but haven't received it yet.

I have the Lapband AP. I read they have a 7 cc and a 10 cc band. I'm not sure which one I want.

No I didn't get a paper on a free pedometer. I'll have to ask next time. I did get a card to bring into restaurants that allows you to eat children's meals. I think ultimately it's up to the restaurant on whether they will honor it.

About Goodwill...check and see, our Goodwill every first Saturday of each month has a 50% off everything sale.

Right now I am righ at getting into the twenties. I know for a lot of you that is a lot, but for me, I haven't weighed in the 20's for what, 10 - 15 years. The 20 were my stalling point on Weight Watchers too. Today I was down to 31, still not in the 20s but close. That is a really long time ago and a lot of Junk in my trunk. I just need to get these ghosts out of my closet and move on. Funny, the way I have been going I should be into the teens in a few months.

So as I get close to this marker I get more and more scared. Somehow getting under the 20s seems like a big deal. Maybe if I walk more.

I hate my scale, I may have to take it to the garage. So much pressure.:tt2: And I am at such a weird place. None of my clothes fit, my pants started to fall off, you can't have your pants fall off at work and no I don't have a belt. My Mom tried taking them in, her sewing machine couldn't handle it. And we took up so much they hung weird and still fell off. So I am giving them away. Friday we set and took up my bra's, we cut off too much on the staps, but the girls are up where God intented them, for now. And my undies don't fit. I know quit crying :w00t:, but they hang and bag and bunch. And here is the funny part. I AM A TIGHTWAD ----- I refuse to purchase clothes until I absolutely need to. :mad2:

So here is the real problem. I am getting there, I am going to get a few to tide me over, but you know how your old thinner clothes, you wore them until they would not stretch anymore, until they were so tight you coldn't breathe. Well, I know the size I am wearing in those old clothes is not the size I wear and I am afraid I will be totally disappointed when that size doesn't fit. Sizes are so messed up anyway. I know I really wore a much larger size when I started, I was just lucky that my pants stretched a lot. But now I don't know what to buy and they put you in that tiny hot miserable room and you try on clothes that don't fit and you are miserable and disgusted. :crying: So yes I hate to shop for clothes, it is always a bad experience and now I have to do it again. It stresses me out. I hate it.

Now that you all know that I am totally a wack job  I had better shut up. I was going to erase everything I had just written, but I guess I am just going to leave it. Please understand I am not crazy, I didn't have many clothes to begin with and now after weeding out my closet I have even less. It has been a hard day.

In a feel sorry for myself mood................... Debbie Maybe I need some protien.:w00t:

You are not crazy. I understand exactly where you are. I am there too. I have been fluctuating for the last few days between 31-33. My scale did hit 27 once, but I stepped on it again an hour later and it was back to 31. My pants aren't falling off just yet. I must have been wearing them really tight (I didn't notice or I was in denial, either way=bad) because now they fit loosely. I don't have a lot of clothes either. I have lots of uniforms for work, but no real clothes. I was too embarrassed to shop for clothes. I started weeding out my closet and got depressed, so I haven't done it any more. I have been wearing sweat pants on the days that I don't have to work. That's ok, we will make it through this ok. You will buy a couple of outfits to tide you over. Then in a few weeks, they will be too big, so don't spend a lot. We will make it out to the other side of this. We will be happy we did this.

Well time for a check in! I had my first fill today and it was just fine! My doctor does have the nurse numb the area and then she stuck the needle in the port and put in 4cc. She said I had no saline in at surgery. The dr. wants me back in 2 weeks for 1-2 more. He did not feel the 4 cc would be enough but he was pleased with my loss. I drank fluids for a while but then ate with no problems. I can tell some difference but I do get hungry in about 3 hours. So I will try to be good. Isn't it amazing how different every doctor is? One more hurdle overcome - skinny here I come!

I'm glad that both of you will be getting your fills soon. I can understand the hunger that goes with not having a fill. Heck, I have had a fill and still understand the hunger.

I can pretty much eat anything right now. no troubles getting it down really. I can also drink w/ my meals too. was it like this for you all too. It doea go down a bit hard if it's something dry like bread or crackers. Will this change after my fill?

oh yea... especially if I drink with it. That's why we shouldn't drink with a meal.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
