Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow Samauris,

Haven't been here in a while. Its been a little over a year for me I'm currently down 141 lbs with about 50 more to goal. From a size 28 to a loose 14. Glad to see everyone is doing well!

Sistergrl25, congratulations on your phenomenal success with the lap band! I'm so happy for you. I wish you continued success and let us know when you hit your goal. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Hanging in here. I am down to @ 208lbs from 272lbs on my first appointment with the surgeon.

I have not lost anything really for @ the last 3 months so it's been hard.

My surgeons PA was tough on me this last visit. He said I need to take a closer look at my intake.

I know he's right but it seems so hard right now.

UGH!

I am a bit discouraged. :)

I am ten feet under with everything in my lfe right now.

hi there!

I know it's been awhile since your post. How are you doing? I just want to say I feel your frustation. It is always hard to put our selves first. I have a big problem doing this being a mom to 3 young girls. I was banded 9-25-08 & have only lost 45- ish Lbs. The first 6 months was good & that's when I lost most of the weight. I have lost MAYBE 8 lbs in the last 9 months. This is my own fault though. I know I have been eating around my band, my choices have been bad, & I do not exercise. I am bag on the wagon now & I feel like I still have the will to fight the fight. :) Atleast we have not GAINED the weight right! Normally I would have lost the 45 & put it back on again & then some! Hang in there! Pm me if you need anything .

Hi everyone...I was also banded on 9/25/08 and have lost around 40 lbs. I"m not completely happy with the amount but wouldn't trade my band for anything. The alternative (gaining even more) would not have been an option.

I've floundered with my exercising...and my eating. I'm at 6.0 in a 10.0 cc band and haven't had a fill in the last 2x. I thought maybe this is the right spot, but I don't know. Recently, I had a couple of bad incidences after eating a small amount of food. Each time I go to my dr's appt they say i'm "doing fine" so I just don't know. I know this is a learning curve and when i look at the last 16 months I KNOW without a doubt that I've made positive changes in my life and if i just stick with it day-to-day the weight will come off.

I'm hanging in here! I've only lost @ 3 lbs since the last post but at least it's not a gain.

I had fallen off the exercise wagon but I'm back on now. I'm hoping that it will begin to pay off.

I joined the January exercise challenge I have to work hard to make it. But I will make it!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I really apprecite it.

I have not been getting on the board for a while but I need to start because it helps me keep focus on what I really want which is to get healthy and loose this weight.

I have @ 70 lbs to go so I can't give up half way through!

It seems like it's getting really easy to work around the band and do what I want so my goal is to really listen to my band and do the hard work. Because that's what it is hard work. There are no easy outs!:)

I know it's hard when I see others loosing quickly and I am just loosing a pound here and a pound there.

But hey I have to remember I'm still in the race and as long as I stay in the race I have a chance.

Hang in there. :)

I am in hell. My company changed insurance companies. Had to change IPA's. They denied my referral to see my surgeon. Appealed to the insurance company. The new insurance company, Aetna, denied my appeal. They will not allow me to see my Surgeon. "It is not a medical necessity" and the appeal actually said that I did the band for cosmetic reasons and my own personal comfort. Give me a friggin break. I have gained - I am up to 186. I need a fill. I am upset and find myself stress eating. I feel like telling them that since they will not allow me to maintain the band I want it removed. Then I will gain back 100 pounds or more, much more. Then I will become a diabetic again. And in a year or so they can pay for my tripple bypass and my care after my stroke. What is wrong with them. AND - I cannot find a place to get my fills. The Drs I have called tell me that they will not fill bands they didn't put in. I am screwed......:cursing:

Sept. Samurai's I don't feel like a Samurai anymore I feel like a failure. I have only lost 40 pounds in a year and need at least another 40 to make a dent. Today has been day one on my Liquid Protein diet and intend to do this for 2 weeks like pre-op to get me started. I am in tears already since I can't run to food but I have to start losing again. I am at 9cc's on a 10cc band and I still feel restriction when I accidentally eat too fast or not chew properly - so what gives. I really hope that in two weeks will get my mind back in shape to do this. I didn't go through all this trouble to not lose any more weight. So, if anyone wants to do the liquid diet with me to get back on track. We can check in with each other every day. Let me know - I have to do something - anything!:cursing:

I would love to, but fear i'd loose to much right now. I finally know what it is to have restriction. In the last 5 weeks i have lost 10 pounds. I think this band and I are working together for once. I fear it will end.

I am glad I am not the only one. I am still at around 40 pounds lost since surgery. I had my last fill 6 months ago and had to beg for it...I was so irritated with my Dr. I shouldn't have to do that when I was still not losing and still hungry. Anyway, he said he would see me in 6mths...which landed me at this past Friday. I was dreading it because I had lost a whole pound in that 6 mths. When I went in he said, "huh, you seem to be at a standstill...lets do an adjustment" no questions asked. I was wondering what the heck got into him lol. I had prepared myself for the fact that I wouldnt get a fill because I hadnt lost anything. Of course you would think it should be the other way around if you arent losing you should get a fill! Anyway, I was so tickled this morning I got on the scale and have lost 4 pounds since last week. Yippee, so nice to finally see the scale move again. I had scrambled egg this morning (1 egg). I was berely able to get the whole thing down...which is huge for me! Last week I was able to eat 2 eggs and 3 slices of turkey bacon!! So hopefully it continues...this time I am to see him in 2 months and he is going to do the fill under fleuro. Good luck guys, I am hoping that things are finally back on track. I was beginning to think that I had made the wrong decision or that I had horrible willpower after listening to everyones success.

Ankpta, so glad you got your fill and you are back on the road.

Terri, looks like you are on the right road. I am thrilled that things are finally going your way. You deserve this, you have worked hard and not given up.

Me, I am close to tears. I am starving all the time. I have become Vegetarian, mostly, and now drink a Vegetarian Protien drink. I still get gas, but not like I get when I eat animal protien. I don't know what is up with my body. It would be nice to see my surgeon, but I am still fighting.

I have begun getting pressure in my chest and at least this time I told my Dr. I am now on an asprin a day, low dose. I don't know what the pressure is but I know I am stressed over my weight staying the same for a very long time and now it is going in the wrong direction. I am discourage, extremely, all this and now a fight. I knew it was too good to be true. I always waited for the other shoe to fall and I guess it did ;)

Debbie, have you checked to see how much it would be to see your surgeon w/out insurance? They may be able to discount you some since your new insurance won't cover...or they may at least let you pay payments? Sounds to me like you really need to get in there to see him. Keep us updated. That has always been a fear of mine that our insurance would change and not pay for further visits. I know the agency I work for will usually prorate and write off some of the cost for people who don't have insurance. Would be worth a try.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
