To Fill or Not to Fill...that is the question

Hi Bandsters,

I need your input. I am scheduled for a fill on Thursday. I am not sure if I need one. When I received my last fill I wasn't eating enough so I did not lose any weight for months. But...now I noticed I get hungry quicker but not everyday. There are times my band is so tight I can get water down but there are times I can eat in the middle of the day a Panera Bread half veggie sandwich with the cup of cream of broccoli soup. I can eat bread now. I could never do that before. What do you think? Have my doc add a smidge to cut off the really bad habits? I am afraid to be too tight and have the darn thing slip.

Advice welcome! Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend!

Jody,

Eating bread is NOT a bad habit. But, the fact that you can do it with no problem probably indicates you need a little tweak. This last time I went, I was in the same spot as you---trying to decide. So, we comprimised--I went from 2.1 to 2.4. Appearantly, that's a little tweak. It was not enough to cause me problems but it was enough to act as a reminder that "yes, there's a Lapband in there!". Talk to the dr or technician. I've found that even with a little fill, my will power is called into service more often than I would have thought. So, don't make things harder for yourself! It's hard enough already!

Thank you both! I am thinking the same thing about the tweak. I did call today and spoke to the nurse and she also recommended a small fill and GET BACK TO BASICS!!! I actually stopped by the office and wrote down the 10 "commandments" so to speak. Now, I just need to stop by the gym!

I'm on my way to the gym right now. :-)

I get a fill when I'm starting to graze after dinner. I'm so restricted in the AM that all I can do for Breakfast is a Protein shake anyhow. But by dinner time I can eat a lot more. If I've eaten a Band-Ideal meal -- lots of protein and veggies and STILL need a snack before bedtime, then I need a fill.

Thanks everyone!! I spoke to my doctor and recommended coming in for a small fill also. If I need more in a month I can go back in again.
