Hello, is anyone able to share prices for self-pay of lapband?

I was able to find out the cash pay amount for Midwest bariatric in Chicago. But everywhere I've been calling in Illinois - is quite expensive.

And am thinking of trying careone GE credit to finance.

Just trying think my options through.

I'm in San Antonio Tx My surgeon said it's roughly 15K for the band. The price varies widely depending on where you go and who you use. I think there is a doc in aurora colorado who does it for under 10k but I don't remember his name.

Hi!

I was banded by Dr. Hadar Spivak through True Results in Houston, Texas on August 27. I paid $12,900; that was a special which ends Sept. 1. After the 1st, the price goes back up to $15,000.

I paid $13,000 in May 08 which included the surgeon (with lifetime follow-up and fills), hospital charges and anesthesiologist. I took a loan from my 401K plan at work and am paying myself back out of each pay check. I'm in DFW area of Texas. It was worth it!

I was self pay and mine was $12,500 which included everything including one overnite if neccessary (I took it since I paid for it!). I got the realize band and the deal was at that time (June 08) if you chose realize band, he gives you free fills for life. In return you have to keep up with the realize web site and log in your food and exercise. Pretty fair deal, I think. Not sure if the free fills deal is still going on but if you live in the area you could call my doc.

Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora, Colorado is $9950 for everything. Fills are free for the first 3 months, then $15 after that.

pebbles...yes a "fill" is an adjustment to add saline to the band. an "unfill" takes some out.

Of course I'm set with Dr. K in Colorado - but, I called all day Thurs & Fri - was unsuccesful in getting someone to accept me for local fills. fillcentersusa is not local for me.

So... today, I begin considering going local and paying more. So, I'm posting messages to asking for prices locally (Chicagoland/Indiana).

I do have 4 prices here so far.

Actually found a couple good prices - just need to know if they will accept my current financing option which is all set and ready.

RightWeigh Bariatric in Kentucky charges $12,500 - they also have a location in Indiana - I will call in the morning to see what they charge (hoping its so close to this).

Lifeway Bariatrics in Downers Grove & Merriville, IN charge $15,500.

Synchronyhealth: $16,000

Midwestbariatrics: $16,211

If any of the lower ones accept my financing and can band me sooner, I'm going to make the switch ASAP to free up that 10/30 date at Dr. K's office.

Hi Pebbles,

My surgery included everything I think except the psych eval but my insurance did pay for some of that. I think I had to pay the initial Dr consult too out of pocket. I got to stay overnight in the hosptial (that was optional but i took it). The price includes 3 visits with dietician and 3 with physical therapy. And fills are included but I am not sure if he is still offering that at that price.

Where are you from? I am busy getting ready to move to south of Columbia in a few weeks and the best part of all this is I will be close enough to go to the monthly support group and other activities they offer. I haven't been able to get to those because now I live too far away. But I gather its a pretty active group.

Feel free to email me thru my profile if you have any other questions. I really liked Dr Pitt although I havent seen him much since the consult. I was knocked out before I saw him surgery day and didnt see him again till he did my first fill. He has now trained a nurse, Tina to do fills and she is very good. Sylvia, the nurse coordinator was very helpful with helping me get it all set up. Good luck to you in your journey. If I can help, just ask away here or in email.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
