Banded on Aug 27 - now home and feeling great!

Recommended Posts

I can't believe it's over! Or really, it's just beginning! I think I've lost about 6 lbs but the home scale, DR scale and hospital scale are all different so who knows...it's all a loss though!

Today is the first day I feel almost pain free since Wed so it took about 3 days to get this way. Not bad. I drove yesterday but that might have been a bit much. I do have four kids - it's crazy here!

Anyway - I am bored with liquids but doing it and sipping all day. ugh! Just made a huge online order with bariatriceating.com - great site.

How is everyone else doing???

I had my band done 8/28 and I have to say I was in a lot more pain then I thought I would be in. Thank god for my husband taking the kids out. I had it done thursday at 6:00pm and was out 10 hours later. I really could have stayed until 6pm but they were done with all the x-rays and I was walking around so I went home.Where did you get banded?

They made me stay overnight though I have no idea why - the nurses were useless there. I was banded in Fairfax - Fair Oaks hospital by Dr. Tran. It was good but he never went to tell my husband I was out and fine so he was a nervous wreck.

I was also banded on the 27th and finally feel good today. I drove yesterday and did a lot of stuff and by 9 last night I was worn out!

I have 4 kids also and they do where you out! It is like the laundry never stops!

I think i have lost 7 lbs but like you said all the scales are diffrent! I am doing ok on liquids and still feel full.

I will have to go look at that website and see what they have!

Hope your recorvery and loss keep going good!!

Before I got banded I ordered a good sampler pack from BE. It included their Blender Ball cup for mixing liquids. It's the best blender...even better than a blender! My husband has actually confiscated it for mixing and pouring pancake batter and scrambled eggs, but I bought another one at GNC.< /p>

No I have never had that and would definitely recommend you call your DR right away. I think shortness of breath and chest pain is pretty serious. It may be nothing but call to be sure.

I think the chest pain is gas. I had terrible gas pain in my back for the 1st 2 days. I think its important to read positive posts but I also feel its important to be realistic. I have had 2 c-sections and I have to say this did hurt more that I thought it would. I had this thursday at 6pm now its mon at 6pm and I'm feeling a lot better. but very sore. If you have bad gas I would not have veggies in the Soup. Have you taken the gas x strips they melt in your mouth. I went thru a whole box because I didn't want it to go past my stomach into my sholder. I think it also hurts to breath because of the muscles are sore. Did they give you a thing to breath into? Keep breathing in and out deep 10x every few hours. Let me know how you are doing-Elisa P.s have you gone to the bathroom yet if you haven't that could add a lot of gas. I didn't go for 3 days and on the 4th ran to the bathroom with the runs and felt much better-Elisa

I have not had it yet....mine is the 15 of this month.....so sorry U had the gas....Does Gas X help? Do they give it to you in Hosp. or do you buy first? At least you are over the hill........i am LOOKING at the hill! You take care and keep on doing what you're doing. It can ONLY get better!

Loper , please call your dr. My instructions for home specifically state if you have shoulder pain or shortness of breath to contact him. You are in the middle of Hurricane Gustav, but I hope you can read this post. I was banded on Aug. 29th, and suffering with gas also. ugh! My dr. told me to continue taking Zantac, and I never was on it in the first place. So, I had to call him and now I take Pepcid complete. Does anyone else know of a different flavor than mint? It tastes nasty with Jello. Also, why are you eating so soon? I'm on liquids for four days.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
