Hello to all, I already introduced myself, but I have some important questions. Has anyone had many health problem prio to getting banded

such as blood clots, diabetes, high cholestral, etc. I take up to 20 pills a

day and this is my main reason for wanting banded to help get me off of

these pills and make me healthier. Anyone else out there had these or some of these problems please respond on your journey.

Thanks Karen in Central PA:confused:

Morning. You would have to discuss that with your doctor. I can tell you after I was banded my doctors stopped my diabetes meds and all my cholesterol drugs. My cardiologist is watching my blood pressure to make sure it doesn't drop to low. I always had border line high blood pressure. Everyone is different talk to you doctors.

The only issue I had was a blood clot in 2003 (I was just banded July 2, 2008). My doctor was fully aware of this and I self injected a blood thinner in my tummy area for 7 days after surgery. Thank God everything turned out well and I had no complications. I was nervous to have the surgery having had a blood clot in the past but my doctor took all the right precautions. Good luck to you!

Catherine Ray I love your dog, oh and thanks for the information.

I have a male maltese named sammy he is 9 months old and full

of puppy. I'm glad you responded because as I have been reading

dvt blood clot. Thanks again

slim2be I am glad to hear of your wonderful outcome, now I have

more hope for myself. I know I'm not alone on this, the clots was

my main concern I take coumadin daily. So thanks for the hopeful

wishes.

Karen, what I've learned is that to really see a change in your diabetes which I had depends on the weight you've lost. I still suffer from high cholestral due to it being genetic and because if this gen I have to work harder; exercise more by walking a minium of 3 miles per day and watch what I eat. The band just allows you to eat less. You can still eat whatever you want the key to the band is discipline your eathing habits and exercise. You need to consult with your doctor concerning blood clots .....I hope everything works out for you! I lost 130lbs in 1 year due to the lapband with no complications! Donna from Birmingham.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
