my surgery was at 10, hubby's at 11:30 - same day. our surgeon says we're still his only patients to have limo service for lapband - but since DH was a big baby and his pain MUCH worse than mine of course - i would have enjoyed my pain meds & a private room, rather than be restless listening to his moaning...:w00t:

I had surgery yesterday 8/25/08 and had to stay overnight. It wasn't that bad...I was in at 7am in my room by 9 or 10am. I felt great, was bummed I couldn't go home.

I had gas pain in the shoulder for about 5 min upon ariving to my room. My mom massaged it for a minute and that was that. After that I didn't have any gas pain, and never had any nausea. I didn't even need any pain meds, so TOTALLY could have went home. Oh well, I'm home now, and feeling great! Glad surgery went so easy for me, I was worried for nothing! :w00t:

Had surgery at 8AM Monday and was home by 5:30 that evening. Would have been about 2 hours sooner except that my surgeon made me drink some NASTY Opti-something shakes and I heard him say I could go home if I could drink it. Well, I went too fast and PB'd it back up! DUMB!!!!!!! Then I had to sit there another hour before they'd let me try again and it took me another 1/2 an hour to drink the disgusting stuff. So by the time we got out of there it was already 4:30 and then an hour ride home.

OMG! As nauseous as I was, I would never have passed that test!! The most time consuming thing for me in post-op was finding the right cocktail of anti-nausea meds to make me feel well enough to move. A shake would have just added fuel to the flames. The only requirement my hospital had for discharge was that I be able to pee before I left.

you guys are both lucky! I have a very high pain tolerance so the actually surgery site didnt bother me at all.. but the suffocating feeling of the gas pains made me miserable and I was so naseous I threw up several times!! :blink:I wished I could be the one to walk out with very little pain and side effects. but I was miserable for the first 48 hours and then slightly uncomfortable for the next 5 days!:tt1: I am however sooooo glad i got to go home because as bad as I felt.. I would rather feel bad in the comforts of my own home.. and now its all over anyways. its so interesting how everyones body reacts differently!:biggrin2:

Ummmmm, not liking to hear that.

Dont worry. it was all tolerable. :biggrin2: I was uncomfortable for a week and then it was over and I feel great!

one week out of my life is not too bad! It was nothing compared to 7 months of morning sickness!! haha

I dont regret one second of this and you wont either.. remember everyone is so different and everyone react to it differently.. there are lots of people who never have the gas pains at all.. its good to know its a possibility though.. if you get them you just walk them out..

dont freak yourself out about everything that 'could' happen.. there is a large chance it wont.. just take it one day at a time and after the surgery one hour at a time and you will do great!:biggrin2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
