3 Months Out: Struggling

Recommended Posts

Hi! I was banded June 19, 2008. I have lost about 25 pounds, but I can't get past that. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions to help me get past this plateau.

Tell us more.

How much and what are you eating? Are you exercising? Are you following the band rules (eat only when hungry, take small bites, chew slowly...)? How many fills have you had and when was the last one?

I haven't had any fills yet. I am following the eating plan and doing well on the dieting. I am definitely not working out as much as I should be. I work out for an hour after work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Do you think that something as simple as working out more would help to boost my weight loss?

Sorry I sound so dumb. I am not very experienced in the dieting/exercising area.

Eat Proteins, chicken, fish, beef, pork, seafood, eggs and cheese. Then if still hungry eat veggies, except carrots. They are very high in carbs. stay away from potatoes, bread, Pasta, rice and fruits if you can. If you eat anything besided Protein and veggies, like potatoes, bread, pasta, rice, fruits, junk food, count the carbs. If you stay below 30 carbs a day and away from the high in carb foods you will lose weight steadily. I walk about 1/2 a mile every day is all the excercise I do. If you have things like pudding or popsicles eat sugar free. Good luck on your journey

Nah, you don't sound dumb at all.

I'm thinking you may be due for a fill. But working out more will definitely help.

1.) How often do you eat?

2.) How much do you eat per meal?

3.) How many calories per day?

4.) Are you eating solid food, Protein first then veggies then carbs?

I had mine done a month before you and have had a few fill and only lost 22 lbs. I constantly remind myself that this is not a quick fix. One thing that helped me because I was at 18 lbs loss for 3 weeks was going back to the basics. I read all of my pre-op diet materials and kind of started over. I have had a hard time exercising, but I reminded myself that I not doing this to be skinny, but to be health and exercising is part of being health. I found two walking buddies. I thought there is if I am accountable to someone else, it may be motivating. Cause if I could count on myself, I would not be here.

Therefore, since I went back to the basics, and began exercising, just last week, I have lost 3 lbs.

Hope this helps

Do not give up ... Never give up. You can do it.

Not that I'm an expert but hitting a plateau is not always a bad thing. If you are following the rules properly, not cheating with junk!, and excersising then it will pass on its own. Just keep up the hard work. Remeber the band is no quick fix, you shouldn't expect to drop the weight instantly.. If it took years to put the weight on, its gona take time for it to come off.. our bodies are only capable of handling it so fast. If you don't keep losing in the next month or two then consider getting a fill, perhaps you are too loose and eating too much still. I would also, if you aren't eating much and still not losing, consider talking to your doctor about it. My complications have personally caused me severe pain while eating and constantly vomiting what I eat.. so on average I eat very little every few days and I have not been able to lose weight in over a year.. If this is the case or turns out to be with you then talk to your doc!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
