Hi everyone, well I still have not checked a scale yet. So I am not sure how much weight I have loss. I have lost a lot of body fluids because my shoes are just dancing and a lot of my jeans are loser. According to my wii fit I weight 267 but I find that hard to believe. Can I really lose twenty pounds in one week? No way.

Well, I've lost 10 pounds in a week (surgery on October 7th), so I would think it is possible!

Either way I'm impressed you're in jeans! I haven't had anything on without an elastic waist yet! I'm thinking for my doctor's appt tomorrow (1 wk follow-up) it might be time to pull on real clothes. I took the week off work seriously.

sounds like you are doing great!! I haven't tried jeans yet either, just sweatpant type things for me so far! I did notice my shoes were looser, I thought it was because I didn't have socks on but maybe it was weight loss, that would be awesome! I still have a week and a half off from work (i feel guilty because i feel fine) but i guess i will enjoy the relaxing while i can!

Hi, had the surgery October 13th, everything went smoothly, no nausea thank goodness. We stay overnight cause of a Barium Swallow the next day, saw my band on xray screen, its really there! Now it is my first full day home and I am tired and achy. I think the gas is starting to make itself known but I guess that is good. No complaints so far. I am having trouble drinking as much as they want. I seem so full and bloated. I am on Protein Shakes and full liquids this week. I lost 8 pounds on the pre op diet. I am just trying to not overdo and walk alot. So far so good.

lindatatu.

I was banded same day. They also repaired a hiatal hernia. I am moving much slower than expected, but will be fine in a few days. I haven't tried a shake yet, but will attempt one today.

Peace and speedy recovery to you.

Dcorna

lindatatu & dcorna -

I also had my surgery on 13 Oct and the pain is pretty bearable but I feel like my stomach keeps filling up with air. Are either of you experiencing that? I have been using the Gas X strips and they are helping but it seems like I am just re-producing gas. I am only allowed Clear Liquids so all I have had so far is Water and broth.< /p>

Yep - I will be on clear liquids for one week and then the doc will determine if I can go to "thicker" liquids. I really don't mind because I am having enough trouble getting my Water down. I love water and usually drink more than 64 oz a day but this taking tiny sips is tough! I hope you are doing well pain wise. I am still taking the loratab liquid every 6 hours but don't think I need it - I just don't want to start having alot of pain. I figure I will take it until tomorrow and see how it goes spacing it out to 8 hours or so.

longhornmom, either I am bloated from gas or to much liquid. I just checked and I only had 44 oz today. I had two Protein Shakes today. Not because I was hungry but for the Protein and because I was told to. I don't want anything I feel so bloated. I am starting little burps and hiccups and they hurt but otherwise ok.

I don't have to do a liquid diet before surgery. Anyone else out there? I am on a low carb/high protien diet. 10 days before surgery cuts out all bread, Pasta, rice and potates. (I have started this already.) NPO after midnight the day of surgery. That's it.

I have been trying to eat like a bandster, but I have found that meals without liquids is HARD! Wow! I wouldn't have thought it was that hard.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
