10 days post op and new pain developed

Recommended Posts

I had my band on 11th August and I was doing great until yesterday when I developed a constant nagging pain under my skin all around the front of my waist above one of my Incisions. It's not really tender to the touch but feels like pulled muscles. I went back to work this week and have been doing all the usual stuff I did before the op so maybe Ive just over done it or maybe there is something wrong. Has anyone else had this or similar? Should i ride it out Or Contact my consultant? Advice please

Call your doc's office if only to be on the safe side. Post surgery you should be carefull not to lift anything over 5 pounds for around 6 weeks to allow everything to heal properly inside. This is true for all surgeries as far as I know not just the band. But then again I am neither a doc nor do I wish to play one on LBT.

So carrying my 2 year old daughter up and down the stairs and lifting her in and out of her cot and car seat wasn't a good idea LOL

Ok, I so know what you are talking about. I had the pain too and had a horrible time sleeping due to not being able to even remotely sleep near that side...I had planned on taking a week off of work, however, it ended up being 2 weeks and I will still sore. I carry most all of my weight around my middle. Maybe that makes it harder to get the band in, thicker skin, which in return creates more pain.

I have that discomfort in the same place. It went away a few weeks after I was banded. The nurse told me it was from where they had stitched the port to the muscles and it was pulling. All was well until I had my first fill last week, then the discomfort came back. The nurse now tells me it is from them having a hard time getting to my port and that it should ease up in a couple of days and should not be as bad with future fills as I lose some weight. Hang in there, I believe it's all gonna be worth it.

I had it too after I started doing a few abdominal exercises. I backed off on the abdominals for a while and when I started up again two weeks later, it felt fine.

HeatherO - how long after your band were you able to do abdominal exercises? I tried bike riding a couple nights and the area by my port started hurting. I haven't been told when it is alright to ride or do abdominals, other than to "give it some time as you're still healing". I would like to start doing them but don't want the pain, or to pull something loose, either.

I was walking right away. I started going back to the gym to do aerobics at 4 weeks out per my doctors orders. I started my step class and it was really tough and I was easily exausted (but they are high intensity aerobics). I attempted to do abdominals with the class and took it easy, but the next day I felt really awful and decided it was just too darn early.

By six weeks out it was business as usual and I was doing my usual routine. You can start many low intensity things now. I would even think biking would be fine a couple of weeks out. You absolutely will feel some soreness around your port when you start but it goes away and I think it is just part of healing.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
