OK, I am SOOOO confused....

Recommended Posts

Back in April, I had a fill to 3cc's. Surprisingly it seemed to make me LOOSER! So, I waited several weeks to see if it would ever kick in...never did. Then I worried if I had a leak. I went back to the doc at the end of May. He took out the same amount that went in in April and added 1/2 cc more...so now I have 3.5 cc's in my 4cc band. I am even LOOSER! Last night, for the first time in a yr, I had a slice of pizza. Not only did it go down just fine, I also had another piece with no problems. I didn't even feel it pass through the band. WHAT gives? My doc checked my band in May for slippage and for any other problems but sees nothing wrong? I don't get it! I feel like the more adjustments I am getting the less restriction! Last night I felt NO restriction! HELP!

Blu, this just doesn't sound right. From a physics point of view, it just doesn't sound right. I would have them check you under the fluro. At 3.5 cc you would be at liquids only

Yes...time for floro...your Dr could be missing your port and giving you a lovely saline shot :)

The only thing I can say is that there are some foods that the band just does not restrict. Are you eating hard portein to stick in the pouch, when I was filled 2.5 cc's I could eat pizza no problems, it was one of those foods for me the band did not restrict, but if I was to eat a chicken breast at 2.5cc's Whoa I had restriction...What is is that you eat in a day? this is where the problem can be, Maybe it is the foods you are eating, just a thought :)

Also, we all know the last few lbs to lose are always the hardest...you have done a fantastic job so far. I think alot of us also know after a year out we seem to become very complacent not following therules like we all did in the beginning. Maybe try going back to basics and the 10 bandster rules to help you get the last 18lbs off?

That doesn't sound normal to me. I only have a little restriction, but pizza isn't one of those things that slides down easily. You should ask for fluoro as soon as possible. Maybe you are completely normal, but sudden loss of restriction could be a sign of erosion. Also, fills sometimes take a week or two to kick in. Just be on the safe side and have them look under x-ray.

I get a flouro everytime I go in for an adjustment. Basically, I eat a lot of chicken, sometimes tuna, sandwiches, ribs a week ago...lol...solid Proteins. Last night was the first time I have has pizza in over a yr...it was more of a test to see if I actually had ANY restriction at all...nope, none. VERY SCARY. PLUS, I don't feel anything passing through the band at all. I use to feel Water going down...now I feel (and hear) nothing!

Seriously time for an upper G.I. - you need an endoscope to make sure there is no erosion. Do NOT put this off!

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Well, I am waiting to hear back from the doctors office right now. Wouldn't there be other symptoms if I had an erosion problem?

I wonder if your tubing or port is leaking.
Not likely since her doctor was able to get all of the pervious fill out
I went back to the doc at the end of May. He took out the same amount that went in in April

Paula, I can't offer any advise....please keep us posted and good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
