Recommended Posts

I feel like I am not even close to how I use to eat that weight should just come off. I do move around allot and walk, but not suppose to be working out...until I go back on Wed to see the doctor. He said he will see how I am and let me know when I can workout.

Banded Aug 5th....how is everyone doing?

Don't worry, I was banded two days before you, lost 16 lbs during the pre-op diet and after surgery did one week of clear, and then one week of full liquids. I'm now into mushy foods and haven't looked at the scale since BEFORE I had surgery.

I've done enough weight loss battles in my life to know I would experience weight gain after the liquid period and didn't want to feel "owned" by the scale anymore. I'll check the scale after a month or so, for now its do what I'm supposed to and things will play out accordingly.

Don't let the scale be the ultimate judge, ESPECIALLY when you just entered the mushy phase.

Good luck

Tracy

As an "old" bandster, now 2 years I would like to weigh in and offer you some advice. First I can tell you that your body needs to adjust once you are back on mushies, give it time. BUT I can also tell you that yes I lost 165+ pounds but I can tell you there were some weeks I lost NOTHING and some when I lost 10. It will all even out in the end. You body will be in a transition period for a while to get used to things. If you go 3-4 weeks without any loss, then maybe worry. But for now just keep doing everything you are supposed to and it will pay off. TRUST ME! :mad2:

Good luck to you!

Hugs

Lisa I wanted to respond to your last sentence..your band is less than 2 weeks old. Remember that everyone heals at a different rate. It is fantastic that you are taking short walks around the block. There is nothing wrong with you. As you heal, you will find more energy to do more exercise. Keep up the good work.

Lol I think I DID post something like this a week or so ago when I was 2 weeks post op! And the responses were much the same, though there have been far more detailed posts here (which have helped heaps! Thank you!)

I too am eating not a lot, and exercising everyday, but am not losing a lb. BUT my shape is changing - I can tell from the way my clothes are fitting! My brother (a personal trainer) reckons I must have lost a fair bit of muscle mass when I was on liquids, and now I'm exercising and eating solids again, I'm gaining muscle back, which weighs more than fat.

I still weigh myself everyday but am not as fussed now if I don't lose or even gain a bit. I'm now watching the way my clothes fit more closely, and I think it's been a better indication of the way I'm going.

I was banded Aug 5th two weeks yesterday

I am still on mushy foods and my doctor doesn't want me to do any workouts until I go back in 4 weeks. He said I can walk but slow and not long periods of time. I asked about going to the gym he said not yet.

I guess every doctor is different. I am down 11 lbs. Which I am glad. He doesn't want me back at work until Monday, but I have to it's been two weeks. I am going only 4 hrs on Thursday and Friday, then Monday I start back.

He doesn't want me in the sun or ocean or pool yet either. Going nuts. I am so glad it's August other wise I would go insane. I love the beach.

I have been walking like ever other day and slow but for long walks...now I better take my time. I don't want anything to happen to the band, by rushing myself.

I need to heal inside too.

Lisa

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
