Hello all I am new to this site and I was wondering what my chances are for approval. I am in the beginning stage of of doing my test and am firm on my decision to want to do the lap band. Currently I weight 320 I am 5 11 with severe sleep apnea, high blood pressure and starting to have joint pain. I have tired to loose weight but cant keep it off or loose enough. I have been with my primary care doctor for 2 years and another doctor for 3 years but i always been heavy would I have to get records from both? You will need to contact your insurance company to verify if weight loss surgery is a covered benefit on your health insurance policy. If it is, you probably meet the criteria, but I would ask the customer service rep to advise you on what they look at to detemine if this is a covered benefit and what they require you to provide to them to get authorization for the surgery. All insurance companies and policies are different, so you want to make sure what your company and policy require. Good Luck!! I am with Blue Cross Blue Shield of GA and I am waiting to get all of my info submitted to ins for approval. CAN'T WAIT!! : )
