Another fun thread! I'm a Libra. Actually, a double-Libra. Many years ago I read the best ever astrology book, it was Linda Goodman's Bedside Astrologer, I think. Anyway, there was the greatest story in there that gave a really cool description of each of the zodiac signs. Does anyone have the book that could copy that story for me? It's a story I tell people all the time.

Basically, there's a group of 12 women sitting in a circle, one from each sign of the zodiac. The hostess asks each person to talk about how they feel about old-fashioned calling cards. I guess way before phones were invented, well-to-do folks would have custom calling cards printed, and when they wanted a visit, they'd send their butler or runner to deliver these calling cards as an invitation to "come calling."

So the hostess asked each person their opinion on calling cards. I only remember a few of the responses, and it's amazing how they are so much like the friends in my life who share the signs. Here's the responses I remember:

Gemini says, "Calling cards? How much do they cost?"

In my experience, Geminis are the penny pinchers of the zodiac, so I thought that was an accurate response.

Aquarian's response, "Is that thunder I hear?"

This one cracks me up because I'm married to an Aquarian, who are famous for being perpetually "out to lunch" and in a world of their very own.

Sagitarrius, "Who the hell has time for calling cards?"

Virgo (the critical perfectionist) Well, naturally, as long as they are gilded in gold.

Libra goes on for pages & pages & analyzes till everyone falls asleep. Did I mention I'm a Libra?

Has anyone seen this? I'd love a copy.

Virgo

I'm Gemini and far from being a penny pincher just ask My hubby. That is funny

But in another way I'm always worrying what is in the bank account and it has to stay put.

Taurus here. Wonder what that means? I have no clue about astrology, but my dad is a pretty involved amateur astronomer, so if anyone has any star questions, I could ask. BTW, he's coming over for dinner tonight and I don't know his sign. He was born Jan 14, 1939.

Stir the pot, Lisa!!! You always have good ideas for new fun threads!

Okay, maybe "penny pincher" was the wrong term, but Gemini's are very aware of money, just like you always checking the account.

January 14 is Aquarius... Kathy, do you sometimes wonder where dad is upstairs? This isn't to say that Aquarians are air heads, they just tend to wander away mentally to their own little world.

I'm a pices by 4 hours. I did NOT want to be an aquarian, which is funny because so many of my houses are in aquarius.... My mom and dad were both aquarian, as is my spudboy. Both my older sibs are Aries, both younger sibs are cancer. DH is a Virgo. My dog Astro is a Scorpio.

Oh my gosh, that is SOOOOOO my Dad! Ask my mom, she divorced him after 33 or so years of marriage. She was tired of being married and lonely! She always said he'd love to live on a mountaintop all alone. He's very intelligent, just in his own little world. Definately!

Haha, I'm married to that same guy! Hence the Aquarian's response to, "what do you think about calling cards?" is "Is that Thunder I hear?" Thunder? Who the hell said anything about thunder?

I gave up talking to my husband years ago. Everything has to be superficial. If I go any deeper than the surface he'll mention pepperoni pizza or something so off topic that I want to scream!

One of these days I have to have my chart really analyzed. I'm a Scorpio/Sagittarius cusp and don't recognize the traits of either in myself. My mom and older daughter show(ed) obvious signs of their Virgo-ness, and my younger daughter the Taurus is still coming into her own. And my brother fits the Aries profile to a T (though I can't just now remember how it goes--I just remember thinking that he was it).

We cusps are very, ahem, complicated. Right, Betty? :)

Headstrong and obnoxious! Or, if you want to put a more positive spin on it, independent and pioneering. :) So says this April 5 baby.

BTW, I think Jan. 14 is Capricorn. Aquarius starts around Jan. 21.

I AM SUCH THE SCORPION ITS NOT FUNNY!!! We are secretive, private, cunning, sexual, interested in the occult, vengful (from what I hear anyway) when we love, we love with our whole being. Driven by water...the emotion element....Pluto is our ruling planet...we are faithful. We make awesome friends, till we get stabbed in the back. My saying is..Mess with the Scorpion and get the Tail in the end!!! And I will REMEMBER the day, time, place and what type of weather we were having when you stabbed me in the back too! We dont tend to forget anything. Even when all is forgiven, we will always remember...

Okay, thats my Two cents...sorry Delarla Don't have the book but it does sound intersting!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
