Sore and sorry for myself but it's done!

Recommended Posts

And I'm so happy it is!

I'm more sore than I thought I would be, and I haven't felt like anything but Water and green tea but otherwise I'm happy. My port incision hurts the most.

The worst thing? Feeling like I need to burp but not being able to! LOL!

This is it, August All Stars, we're all on our way now!

Welcome back lellow and congratulations on your voyage! I'm a little leery about the gas issue...so you'll have to keep us posted on what helps and how long it takes for it to quit bothering you altogether. It's reassuring to know that you are happy that you got the band!

Congratulations, I don't know if you have GasX strips down under. I picked up two packages at Wal-Mart. From what I have heard gas is pretty normal after surgery. The Gas X was recommended because you don't swallow it, it goes on your tongue and melts.

I hope that helps. I have 5 days to go till my banding date.

I am getting very excited.

Congratulations!!

Now you have to change you siggy line from this:

"Will be banded 1st August 08!"

to this:

"WAS banded 1st August 08!" :)

Seriously though, take care of yourself!!

2 days under my belt of being banded and I would say the worst part is the gas. I feel like I have to burp or pass gas really bad. I have taken the GasX strips and they help a little. My port scar is sore but I can take it. I can really say that I have not been in pain - just minor discomfort.

Well I'm 3 days post op and the gas situation is dfinitely getting better. Yesterday was the worst, with my tummy cramping up from the gas that just wouldn't go anywhere. I walked a bit but got tired quickly, and eventually had some peppermint tea, which was a godsend, I tell you. (note to everyone - buy some peppermint tea!)

We don't have Gas X here in Australia, which is a shame, but today already the gas is dissipating and I'm feeling better. I don't want to weigh myself yet either coz I'm quite swollen in the belly still, but I'm pretty sure I've shed some weight since the op.

Even the pain around my port is better today. I'd say the first 2 days after the op were the worst, and it gets better from there. Hang in there guys, it'll all be worth it!

Off to change my siggie now!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
