Officially banded and feeling great!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All! Thanks so much for all the well wishes:) This are going amazing! I will post my surgery story in a different threat, hopefully setting peoples mind at ease. Having this forum has been so helpful and so supportive I can't thank you all enough and now I can support all of you. Let see if I can answer the posts. I have to update my ticker, as of the morning of the surgery I hit my 20 lb mark. It ended up being 19 at the surgeons office when I had clothes on:)

Shamrockgirl-I think it was time for Manny to go. I will always be thankful for what he has done for this team, but I have to think that his little antics were distracting to the other team mates. I think that Jason Bay is a little cutie and you can see the desire to play in his offense and defense. He knows what big shoes he has to fill, but so far he is on fire. I hope Papi is okay with his buddy being traded though:) I'd be happy to talk to your friend-feel free to have her contact me. I can't say enough good about the team and the hospital. They were fabulous.

jaydeesmjk-I usually can't spell when I'm "normal" so it must have been the meds that helped me to get it right:biggrin:

vegasgirl-they are getting a letter and some type of gift. They were amazing. They were so calming and were so good about me being comfortable and not rushing me to leave. I'm big about writing letters for good jobs, none of us get enough of those:)

David-keep the faith brother:) You'll do really great. None of us are ahead or behind-we are all together. The surgery dates may be different, but we will all be in the same boat in 6 months when we are all shadows of our previous selves.

NaniRose-I missed seeing you Wednesday!! We have to set up a walking party for the ladies in our group:) I'll get on that ticker:)

I'll start typing now to give you all the story-keep an eye out for a new thread. Thanks again everyone for your support-it really means a lot:smile:

Wow your doing so great, I will talk to my friend I am trying to get her to post here. I am going to call her tomorrow. She's very excited to do this also. I am so happy and calm about the surgery. I dont' know how I will feel on Thursday morning LOL. But now I am calm.....

I agree with you on Manny, they were discussing the problems the team has had with him this year. He seemed to not be playing well on purpose, he was throwing the games. The players were very unhappy and it showed with their playing, Manny is Manny that's a cop out, I do think he needs Prozac or lithium I do think he's bi-polar.

I love Jason Bay he's adorable, I saw in the stands the girls are going nutz for him...."The Bay Watch Babes" isn't' that cute.

He's a better fielder than Manny and we still have Big Poppi to hit. I just hope Manny doesn't' try to persuade him to leave, I doubt it.

Go Patriots 2008

Congratulations World Champion

Moe, I was joking about being in your rear view mirrow. I was more exasperated because I'd wasted nearly three months getting it done. When I turned 50 the AARP sent me a document titled the ten commandments of growing old gracefully. Number one is, "it doesn't matter." Wish I'd taken that to heart when I was 30. Would have saved a lot of heart burn and perhaps wasted relationships.

:thumbup:It' 11 Pm. I was finished banded about 230 pm, today. I still have tingly hams for fingers and keep hitting wrong keys. I'm still waiting for the first hurt to hit. I drank a cup of chicken broth for my only meal since yesterday and have drank a lot of Water. Clear liquids only for two days then liquids only for 2 weeks.:cool2:

Sure....blame it on the hammy fingers :cool2: I'm a little more inclined to think it might be some leftover happy juice

I'm glad that you are doing well and able to post so soon to let us know. Keep us posted

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
