It's normal to be nervous. You are going to have a life changing experience! Try to relax (easier said than done). Take a nice warm bath (you won't be taking one in awhile) and get your house ready for when you come home. I feel like I am an old pro at surgeries (esp laproscopic procedures) as I have had about 8.

I'm starting to get really nervous. And I've never had surgery before.

I understand how you are feeling. I was in the same boat and I was counting down the seconds and was convinced I was gonna freak out since I'd never had surgery. I had visions of getting on the table and flailing around and begging them to stop, BUT, I was surprisingly calm. All the new exciting things and the IV and the nurses swarming around me kept my brain occupied, then next thing I knew I was in the OR with an oxygen mask over my face taking deep breathes and I woke up with a band. I know its easy for me to say "don't worry", but I was a wreck til I got to the hospital, then a calmness and feeling of safety came over me and I was fine and sooo happy, then I was done! Hang in there and congratulations! You can do it!

I so know what you are going through. I have my surgery in a little over 48 hours. I too have never had a surgical procedure and I am on a Clear Liquids diet to top things off.. I never ever realized what kind of true relationship I had with food until i took the food out of the equation. Now I know that I won't kill over and die without it (well figuratively speaking, haha).. I don't think i have ever been on a clear liquids diet that I can remember. I have often wondered "how am i going to do this", but I am trying to hold on tight to my goals. At this point that is all i have to get me there.. well that and a little bit of will power that I was sure i didn't have but it turns out that it has been there waiting on me all this time... imgaine that.

I too have less than 24 hours and I am very nervouse. I've had other surgeies so this shouldn't be a big deal but when you facter in all the thoughts of not being able to eat (when your a food addict) it is scary. I have been working on tgetting this proceedure for a long time and I am prepared to do what I have to do to make it work. Failure is not an option. Good luck and I'm sure we will do fine.

Everyone that I've talked to that has followed the program has made out well those that have not folled it some have had some seiouse problems, others haven't actually had problems they jst haven't lost the weight they wanted to loose.

I have 23.5 hours to go and doing ok - just a little nervous. I have all my stuff ready for tomorrow and I plan on getting the house tidy and my tv table ready with my Water, meds, laptop, heating pad and tv remote. Good luck to all my fellow July 29th banders!!!!!!

Now you are making me nervous! I have 8 more days and I keep getting butterflies. I am really excited about this change, so I think that is part of it too.

However, I have questioned whether or not I am really up for the commitment. Of course I am, I would not have come this far if I was not ready. It is just the nerves getting the better of me.

Hang in there and think of all the postive things that will come with having this new tool for weight loss! The positives definitely out weigh the negatives!

Greetings fellow bandits! I was banded four short days ago on Thursday July 24th. My surgery (my very first...never had any surgery before) went very well. In fact, the anesthesiologist tells me he said 'you're going to get sleepy." I don't recall it, but woke up in recovery. Now, that's the way it should be! Based on the bruises on my tummy, however, I'm thinking something indeed went on while I was asleep. A little discomfort seems a small price to pay for a new lease on motherhood, activity, clothes, body image, self image and confidence. I am back at work today, moving slowing, but back at work. For me, I took pain meds when I needed it, but I also felt like I should get up and get moving a little bit. Its an adjustment today, can't tell yet if I'm sore or hungry (probably a little of both). Good luck to those of you waiting for the first day of the rest of your life!

haha GonBHealthy....I had that same vision of flailing around! lol I'm just kind of a wuss. but...i'm sure I'll be ok. Amazingly I'm on day 3 of clear liquids and i'm a lil grumpy, a lil out of it, but I'm not even hungry. Is that weird? I''m completely satisfied with a cup of chicken broth. lol well...yeah i'm now at 11 hours and 52 min. lol

I've got less that 18 hours before I set off on the journey to hospital and about 30 hours until surgery time. I'm jittery - a combination of nerves and excitement. I find I'm getting fixated on stupid things like what nightdress to take to hospital. I've finally started to get things in order for when I return home - clean sheets on the bed, stock of favourite DVDs - Sex and the City Series 1 thru 6 here I come!!!

Best wishes to all being banded this week - finally!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
