just banded in CT 7-21-08

Hye everyone, i was just banded Monday the 21st. Since then i have had horrible bloating and gas pains. Everyone says that this is normal( hope it doesnt last long). Obviously im still on liquids and really dont feel like eating anyhow. I am a little concerned on why i gained 5 lbs during surgery and when it will come back off. I am also surprised to see how many people state that they dont lose for the first 5 weeks because it is a healing time? My Doc didnt tell me that ... is it common? Right now he has me drinking 3 Atkins shakes and nothing else but clear liquids. I can not see how i would not lose weight.... i dont know ..... if there is anyone that would be able to shed some light on how this is gonna go, it would be appreciated.

I was banded on 7-15-08 and just since yesterday the gas pains didn't seem to be there so there is hope for that. Personally I drink a protein shake in the morning and have cranberry juice, broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, tomato juice, things like that and that seems to satisfy my hunger. I also count everything that I take in and journal it so that at the end of the day i'm able to see just how much of everything that I have consumed. Just wait you were just banded on the 21st give it a couple of days and it will start to come off.
