Happy anniversary Frangi! This group really has been so inspirational and supportive! Reading all of your posts and seeing your success inspite of struggles and set backs has kept me motivated even when I wasn't checking in! I hope we all stay connected in the coming year (s).

Thanks Valstar!

This has been an awesome journey so far. I have been dropping into the Aug 2008 threads. These folks are just starting there journey, and it is going to be amazing to watch !

All of us Crazy Ates have made so many positive changes over this last year. I am very proud of myself, and I am very proud of US.

I can honestly say that I am not same person I was one year ago.

Instead of being a diabetic with high cholesterol, I am a RUNNER! and a regular gym goer. (I've only ran one 5k race so far, so perhaps I'm taking liberties with the "runner" thing LOL)

I feel awesome, and when I look at all your before and after pics, I know that you all look and feel awesome. It's not just the smaller frames, it's the new sparkle in your eyes and smiles!!

Crazy Ates Rock !!

I'm still around, just not in here too much. I'm at my original long term goal of 250. Early on in the journey I changed it to 240. Was hoping to make it by my bandiversary, but that is in less than 2 wks. Just don't see it happening. Oh well, I'll take what I've accomplished. Good to see everyone having so much success.

Hey Judi, with you being our best and brightest writer as well as the founder of our Crazy Ates group, I was wondering if you think it might be a good idea to start a Bandiversary Celebration Thread. I know it's already a bit late in the month, but what do think?

Hi Frangi...

Just catching up with posts now! I've been busy packing up my son and moving him. We were gone for a few days. I drove a U-Haul! Wow...that was a new experience!!! I don't think I'll start up a new career as a truck driver! The highways and biways are now safe!

We got him safely tucked away in his new apartment.....he's off to get his PhD and teach at a university a few hours away  In a few years, I can say...."my son the doctor".......

As for your suggestion....I'm all for any and all celebrations. What do you mean by a Bandiversary Celebration thread? Forgive me for not "getting it".....I am just plain tuckered out! My brain is on 2 hour delay.......... Feel free to start it up....I may have "founded" this group but we are all owners of it! Everyone here made it great and worthy of a celebration!

Time to go to get my weary butt into bed!

Judi

Hi Judi,

What I meant to say was since that you are such a clever a witty writer, we might start a thread that says something like Happy Bandiversary months Crazy Ates -- with a sentence or two. That's all....I know I could start one too, but I don't have your way with words.

Anyhow, it was just a passing thought, I had actually forgotten that I had written this!

:blink::smile::biggrin:

Hey Gang!!

Sorry to have gone AWOL on you. Life just got REALLY busy and, with my new and improved body -- much more enjoyable!! :biggrin2:

Congrats to ALL OF US! One year!! All I can say is "WOW"!!!!:cursing:

I was striving to hit 100 lbs lost by my bandiversary, but I'll take 91. Just a little over half-way.

  • I've lost an average sized 4th grader!
  • First time in 18 years I weigh less than my hubby!
  • I can romp and play in the backyard with my grandson.
  • I'm finally getting to the point where I can actually consider plastic surgery options and doctors!!!

There's so much more. I am so blessed. Thank you ALL for your support.

TUMMY TUCK DONE

To Celebrate my one year bandiversary I had a Tummy Tuck 2 days ago. I am still wearing a binder and I have some swelling, so it is hard to see the results right now. I will post pics as soon as this binder comes off.

Congrats Michee! A Tummy Tuck is a wonderful reward for all your hard work. Having the reflection in the mirror match the way you feel is very satisfying and well deserved.

I love that our Crazy Ates’ anniversaries coincide with the start of a new school year. The start of school always feels like a time for new beginnings, fresh starts, and new clothes and shoes! Who doesn’t love that?

I’ve read all of your post and am so inspired by everyone’s progress in the past year. There are a lot of great stories here about how we are transforming our lives; things besides losing weight, like changing our thinking. We are doing things we’ve been afraid to do or thought we couldn’t do. It’s amazing stuff.

I know that as I enter the second year of this long trip, I’ve got lots of things still to work on. Maybe we could all benefit from committing to keep making progress, whatever the stage we’re in.

I’m going to commit to stay focused on eating a healthy, well balanced bandster’s diet. I’m not going for perfection, but I’m going to shoot for eating well 90% of the time. I’m also going to keep exercising, because it makes me feel good about myself. What are you going to do?

Becky,

What a wonderful post. A New Year's Resolution in August. I love it!! My second year I will make goal! So, to do this I need to also eat properly 90% of the time and get the exercise up to 5 days a week. I am joining a gym with my girlfriend. My DS goes there also. He said he will work with me on strength training. I need to drive consistency into my banded life now. Make the commitment and stick with it for life!! :(

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.......

I am the healthiest I have been in years (perhaps forever). So far the TT recovery has been easier than lapband at this point in time. No horrid gas pains.

Now my biggest problem is gonna be: "what clothing styles look best when you have a flat stomach? " LOL!!

Year one was awesome.......in year 2 my (our) challenge is going to be "how to live as a healthy, fit, thin woman"

I am counting on the Crazy Ates to be my experience strength and hope for this new chapter.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
