2 fills and absolutely zero restriction

Recommended Posts

I hope your next fill up gives you some restriction. It appears from reading the various e-mails at this site and from other members from my support group with lapbands, that food restriction will come depending on the right amount and number of fills. Lets hope it comes to us much sooner than later.

It can take a while to get that sweet spot, sorry to say, and the experience varies with each person. I've had 3 fills so far and going back for the 4th. I envy the people who are just fine with 1 fill. I've come to accept that people are just built differently, and what's good for some just doesn't cut it with others. I just can't wait for the day where I'm not hungry most of the day and trying to ignore that hunger, only to have it come back with a vengeance - that's why I ended up needing the surgery in the first place. Good luck to all!!:wink2:

Please don't get discouraged it took eight or nine fills for me to hit my sweet spot! I am a slow loser....but it's working so, it is what it is!

8 or 9 fills. At that rate I'll be old and gray before I lose enough weight to feel like a normal person. I just can't wait for 8 or 9 fills. I'm going to go crazy waiting to loose weight.

I was banded on 4/23/08 and have had 3-1cc fills for a total of 6 cc's in a 14cc band. I don't feel any restriction but I haven't gained any weight, just trying to wait out this journey to finding my sweet spot. I go tomorrow for another fill. My doctor is very conservative and will only do 1cc at a time but he allows me to go every two weeks till we get to the right spot. Will keep everyone posted.

Good luck to you. I don't go for my second fill until 8/18 and I'm really hoping to get some restriction, even a little I be happy with. Do you have an email address so we can keep in touch.

I too had no restrictions. I ate a sub! I went back to Dr. and she was not hitting the port correctly. I guess when it is installed it lays flat but when you recover its in a different location. She has to go up then down on mine. The last fill took and I am going to see her Tuesday for a little more.

I just had another fill. I have a 4 cc(?) band and now currently have 3 cc's of saline input. I can definately see a difference. I have to stay on liquids for a few days. I am slowly adding food. My weight was 215 to start, 205 day (May 23rd) had two fills and just had my third 8/4/08 first two did not take. I am at 193 today. Is this a normal weight loss rate?

I just have to say, this site is absolutely fantastic. Instead of reading though the different forum's I posted on the main "post-op" forum today, but have just found this one and I have exactly the same problem.

I had my first fill on Wenesday, and although I've had quite good weight loss, I felt more restricted BEFORE I had my fill. I have 6mls (cc's) in my balloon and I'm ashamed to say it - I pigged out terribly last night! This is the first time since my surgery 6 weeks ago. I know its not the end of the world, but I have been feeling s++t all day today, but I now feel so much better reading everyone's experiences.

Its great having other people going through exactly the same as you and I now realise that the first fill isn't like magic and it might take a bit of time. So i'm going to hang on in there - its taken me about 19 years to put all this weight on and it aint going to come off straight away!!! So guys - thank you. :tt2: You've made my day! xxxx

I just had my first fill on Monday. My doc put the needle in and then fill the band completely, then used a chalky drink so he would see it on xray. IT was a weird feeling to feel your stommach completely close and then reopen. I have more restriction than I had, but I would love more. My second fill isnt until Sept. 10th.

I felt the same way. I almost wished I did not get my first fill and waited until I felt I need one. I have second fill on August 13 (next week). My surgeon at his support meeting that he did not believe lapbanders do not achieve food restriction until their SECOND FILL.

I also learned that the restriction I felt for the first six weeks after my procedure to have the band placed, was probably due to the irritation and newness of the band in my stomach.

It did take us time to gain this weight and its going to take time and patience to take it off and KEEP IT OFF!

Thanks for sharing! Please keep me and others posted on your restriction and future fills.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
