Tomorrow marks my 2 wks mark since getting banded and let me tell you...

Recommended Posts

I am almost 3 weeks post-op and I feel great! Like many of you, I too had the chest pain, heartburn etc. I even had some doubts that maybe I made a mistake getting the band. Now that I am 3 weeks out, I feel great and I love my band! I eat very little and get full so fast. For those recently banded in the last week or two, hang in there! You will soon feel fabulous!

oh my god bella, i love you, i have been wondering what is with these spasms i can feel in my oesophagus, it just happens randomly even when i am not eating anything, what causes them, ? it started as soon as i got my band on saturday and all the way home from mexico too, however i have to say today is my third day and it is already less, i feel the spasms are getting lower down in my oesophagus instead of at my throat so hopefully they will just fade away.

 Congrats to you! I am happy with my decision too! I say a prayer everynight, thanking the Heavens that I decided to change my life and that I was approved by insurance and the surgery went well!

AliNSanDiego, Clear Liquids for 2 weeks?! I don't know how you'll have enough energy to do anything. Plus, my doctor has us start on Protein Shakes 2 days post-op b/c you need Protein for your body to heal. I would definitely question your doctor about this. Keep us posted.

Congrats Zeama! I am in the same boat. I feel pretty darn good.

The one thing I don't get is...

It seems like I am the only one here who is on all clear liquids for 2 weeks post-op (then I can only add Protein Shakes and Tomato Soup for 2 more weeks). When I see my Dr for my 2 week post-op I will be asking him why.

I have been reading others who added mushies/soft foods 2 weeks out...

My Dr. puts everyone on 4 weeks post-op clear liquids!!! I must admit I didn't make it. Mostly because a week & a half out I volunteered at a kids camp for a week solid. But then again I am not really losing either. Soooooo....... stick to your Dr. orders!!! It's worth it.

If it's any consolation, I also am having gas pains, bloating, tightness etc. I tried the store brand gas-x - helped for awhile. However, it seems like the CVS brand "phazyme" sp? gelcaps are working fast! They're a little pricey ($10.50 for 60) but heck when your stomach feels like it's ready to explode it's worth the price. I cannot wait until this passes altogether.

I can't imagine anyone making it FOUR WEEKS with a clear liquid diet. My Dr. said 3 days clear liquids and 2 weeks FULL liquids (which includes Protein drinks and different soups). Where is your nutrition coming from? I would be drinking protein Water at least.

At one week post op he ok'd to resume protein drinks. 30 grams protein per drink, at least 3 a day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
