Where Are My G.R.I.T.S

Where are my GRITS....Girls Raised in The South. Come on ya'll we gotta represent. No disrespect to the North, East, or West. Just want to see who is here from the dirty, dirty. I am from New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm sure you've heard of the place. The city Katrina tried to wipe off the map, and the place apparently George Bush forgot about following Katrina. Sorry, I digress. So Holl Ya'll:w00t:

FYI: I will be getting banded on July 25, Yay:thumbup:

I don't mind! I am using Dr. Miles of the Alabama Weight Loss Center. I have heard good things so far about his group. I actually work with a lady who had gastric done. I tell you, this has bemen an emotional roller coaster for me.

Omg! I am using schmitt, holla!

That is too funny!!!! Did you have any problems getting Naomi to help you out? I have emailed her twice now and I still have not received my surgery date. Any ideas why?

girl I am a bonafide stalker. nobody can escape me. not bcbs and not naomi! Girl call and say it is an emergency if they put u on hold don't hang up! Now naomi is notorious tor not getting back with u. There is a miles and schmitt thread on LBT. U can read similar complaints there. Now she did say that she is having trouble withbht email. But still.... Call call call. Have u been approved yet?

Yes I have! I was approved back in March! I just don't understand why they haven't set a surgery date as of yet. I have done the psych eval, first visit with Dr. Miles, the seminar, 1st part of the sleep study, and all I have left is the lap band support group and then the class. Have they set you a date yet? Should I just call her??

Welcome sweet pea!!!! Where do you live? I'm 24 also and live in McKinney....yes get in that food before pre-op as a treat to yourself!

I stay in north Dallas close to 635 and I-35.

How are things going with being banded? I hear that some people get sick alot and some don't. How was your experience the first few weeks after?

Hey ya'll, I got a friend who lives in Frisco, right outside of Dallas, and she is looking for a doctor to perform her surgery. Any suggestions on a good doc out there

HELLO....................Stand up DIRTY SOUTH, MISSISSIPPI in the house. Thank GOD for a WOMEN OF COLOR FORUM. No disrespect to anyone. And............for the GRITS... There is nothing like cheese grits with some real bacon and sausage. Those days have practically come to an end for me though. I got my 4th fill today. I hope I can still eat my grits though, I'm a southern gal, with a new found attitude and now new body. I look forward to talking with each and everyone here. Going to the Dirty SOUTH next week. .....

THICK GRITS, there is nothing like people that can relate to each other.GOOOD luck everyone with their journey.

I'm going through Lapband Solutions. here's the website: Lap Band Surgery Dallas, Texas | Weight Loss Surgery Specialists

Their office in Dallas is off of Coit and Beltline. They have been really good with me. Let me know if you need more info.

I was born in NYC then raised in North Cackalacky.

I have been known to eat grits (like when I was 3) but won't touch them now. Ya'll can have them!

One sister-in-law lives in New Malden and brother-in-law lives in Surrey. They have always encouraged me in my weight struggle, but I haven't told them of my decision to get the band. I want it to be a surprise when they see me. :)

Last year there was a huge family wedding in London(Nigerian and African-American), which I wouldn't attend because I was too embrassed about my size. I hope to change those feelings.

Good luck on your surgery, and I hope you will be able to cross the pond in comfort.
