Respectfully, NO! You're not "fine"

You need to call your surgeon's office ASAP. That is a LOT of salt you ate, and the purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink the liver. The surgeon needs to know you did this, and they may have to reschedule your surgery if you aren't able to fix it in time.

Frankly, it sounds like you panicked. Please think carefully about what you've done, and more importantly, why.

Girl! don't fret... I'm not encouraging that you cheat but I was not as diligent as I should have been during my two week liquid pre op...

Yes, they do want to shrink your liver but I ate a little bit here and there during the pre-op, and had a successful banding, not to mention I lost 8 pound prior to the surgery. I must admit I was very dilligent 4-5 days prior... I think that it's more difficult for some... let's face it, if we werent food addicts, we wouldn't be having the band!!!

So, don't beat yourself up... Just get back on track with the liquids!!!

Please remember that unless someone is a Dr the answers will all be opinions. If you are ever worried about what you have done, feel, see, eat or think is happening give your Dr a call. It is his say so that counts.

That being said I think it is great that you didn't scarf down a pint of Haagen Daz. Relax and read your guidelines again. Recommit yourself.

Good luck on your journey!!

RESPECTFULLY............

Do you know how much salt is in broth?????????? Which is what we are SUPPOSED to consume on a liquid diet.

It is a short term diet, she is not going to die nor should she call her Dr. ASAP. I know everyone is different, but really I don't think scaring people is nice. I was very concerned with the ammount of salt in my diet for a 6 week liquid diet..... my Dr. does more bariatric surgeries than anyone in my state, the facility is a Center of Excellence & he did not have any alarms going off about it.

Let's all play nice.

Um, ok.

You're fine! {big fake smile}, and you have nothing to worry about! {big fake smile}

Now that is "not nice." I was being nice by not lying to her. Sorry.

Are you crazy writing that response? I mean seriously. You would think she commited a crime the way our are acting! Her liver will be fine. It's just salt. Do you know nothing about being fat? Salt doesn't make you put on weight. Fat, Sugar, Carbs, and over eating does. If salt were the problem we would all stop eating it and be skinnky and none of us would have to get the surgery. So back off!

I am not saying lie to her. But you were a bit....... your'e in front of a train that is going to hit you, run!

Yes she might want to call her Dr. but since we aren't the Dr. don't freak out so much. She might feel like she totally blew it & really sabotage herself. Her Dr. might very well say, that was too many carbs, buckle down from here on out.

A simple "You might want to call the Dr. & ask about it b/c of the carbs or salt......" would have been sufficient.

Choopie, keep in mind EVERY person on this journey gets a different pre-op diet. Some are on liquid two weeks before or more, or some like myself only 48 hours before so chances are you didn't hurt your surgery chances but you should always consult with your doctors office if you are worried about something, they know your health history and can advise you properly.

We didn't get to this point over night, we have been bingeing and cheating a long time to be where we need WLS to get healthy so don't let yourself or anyone else beat you up over 1 missed-step! Just take a deep breath and start over again. I am sure it won't be the last time you fall back on old habits. If someone on here says they never do I would say they are in denial....LOL;)

Let's keep this in perpective ladies... It was Soup, not big bacon claccic with double cheese and bacon! As I mentioned previously, if we could have that much self control ALL the time we wouldn't need the surgery!

Wow, some people really think they know everything!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
