Hi Folks;

I have noticed that food just doesn't taste as good as it used since I have been banded. I no longer get that "OMG this is delicious" feeling when I eat my favorite foods. the taste is just not the same.

I'm not complaining but I do sometimes miss eating a delicious meal that is just soooo satisfying.

How about you?

Sadie

I didn't vote because I wasn't sure which option to pick. Most food tastes about the same except sweets. Some sugary stuff seems sickly sweet, I just can't stomach it. It isn't every sweet thing, just some. I took a sip of my husbands sweetened tea and felt nauseated. Other things are fruit juice(juicy juice 100% juice) and light cool whip.

I noticed the same thing. I've had that reaction to quite a few different foods, most notably my beloved prime rib on Father's Day -- it didn't taste that great at all.... good, but nothing special. Definitely a mixed blessing, but for now I'm happy about it.

Yes, I definately find a difference in the way my old "favorite" foods taste now. pizza is just not the same and I cannot tolerate red meat in any form!!! I think it is partly because of the change in our eating habits and the way we look at food now. It's for survival not for pleasure! I have noticed that just a little "taste" of a food that I used to eat and am missing now is very satisfying and cures a craving. I also think that the classes we had with a nutritionist were very helpful in changing our idea of "good" food. I keep telling myself, this is a life-change, just keep on trucking!!! Good Luck!!!

Heck I haven't even been banded and I can already tell differences, Been a yea now this month since I joined this site and started research etc. It's been a year now that I have changed our diet (Not just me the whole family) And while its still and ongoing process there are several things I have noticed.

Going out to eat. A whopper isnt nowhere near as good as I remembered it. To greasy, felt heavy and half nauseated and overall yucky for hours afterward, after eating a whopper. Same with a rally hamburger. OMG I used to eat so much grease!!

My favorite chineese resturant is now not my favorite anymore!! The lovely BBQ rib meat I used to adore and sent my blood sugars up in the 500 range. Now tastes sickly sweet. the honey almond shrimp that used to be to die for just doesn't taste good. And I KNOW they haven't changed cooks..

I find asking my BF now for a bottle of Water instead of a fountain pop cause they always taste off now.

So yea I can believe foods taste different now. Because your getting used to food now being good for you and not building your life around it. And your tastes have changed.

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
