Ok so ive talked to many people some people follow directions to a T, but thats usually not my style! lol bad i know, but hey this is me and if im gonna do it, im gonna do it my way!! I still follow main rules dont worry!! But im on the pureed diet now!! Just wondering how many followed this really closely? I started eating solids before i was done with my liquid stage, taking it slow and chewing well!! I watch out for problem foods and eat slow, but i have not had any problems!! I get my first fill is July 25!! so excited!! i know i will be much more restricted then!! But just wanted to get some other's input!! Thanks so much!!

like all the others have stated - well most others - the ones who have been banded for a significant amount of time, bad bad idea. i'm not judging, but you stated you wanted other's input...

the pre/post op diet is there for a specific reason. i really wish surgeons would explain it more in detail, but some just dont... but even if they did i fear people would still dodge the diet...

you received input, it wasnt what you wanted to hear and felt you were being 'attacked'... not so.

my suggestion - listen to Colton, Wasa, Jachut, Elisabeth, Denise and the others who have been banded for awhile... most of the users i gave you are either AT GOAL or VERY VERY close to goal. so, they obviously are doing / did something right.

Excuse me was I directing that towards you, no. Every doctor is different and I had a fill with flouro yesterday and everything is still in place. I was not wishing ill will on anybody. And not trying to be rude. Sorry if that offened you.

come back after 2-3 years, let's see how you are doing then.

I have been cheating, I dont like it and I wish that I could start over. Its horrible knowing that you could have done something to your band.

you can start over -- whatever stage you are supposed to be on, go back to it. you can do it!

Ok here it is!!! I am a very kind person and have plenty of friends and no enimies!!! I have been on this Lapband journey for over a year now!! Was banded on June 12th!! Did liquids two weeks before, doc told me Clear Liquids two days post opp, liquids for two more weeks, and now on pureed untill about the end of July. Im sick of liquids and am haveing an extremely hard time!! I posted becasue somewhere out there i wanted someone to send me help, telling me it will all be ok and i can do this! I know i can, and i am!! I have lost weight, ad am proud of this!! I take things very personal, and am very emotional, i knew people would tell me im wrong, but never expected it to be so straight forward and harsh!! Thanks anyways and sorry for all the misunderstandings!! Elizabeth:ohmy:

personally, i think it was your attitude... especially this part:

best of luck to you.

what you have to understand is that your still healing from surgery . So you may become nauseated for a few different reasons .

are you getting enough liquids/water in ?

If you become dehydrated you may be come nauseated .

make sure your eating enough of the right things ?

If you are really feeling like your going to be sick , you need to call your doc and have him call you in a RX .

This is really weird for me, all I drink is Water, and now, when I drink it, I end up with gerd. I can swallow it ok, but I drink it I have really bad gerd. This happened today, and last night. I really drink all the time. I didnt start this until the McDonalds incident.

if it happened after you ate when on liquids, i STRONGLY suggest you call your surgeon. yes, now. 'confess' to eating when you shouldnt have and tell him you are having major reflux only on Water.< /p>

there could be a potential problem.

im sorry if it's a slip...

I agree you should call the doc , if they told you to go to the ER then you should go if you have Gerd/ refulx after this but not before. and your having isssues w/ Water.

I had low grade nausea for about the first 1.5 months from time to time. I followed my doctors instructions, but I swear it was Water making me nauseous. Sometimes it is just like that, healing from surgery can make you nauseous. If it continues I would call your doc, but occasional issues arent uncommon since you are still so newly banded.

I think it's a real shame that people get offended when we are trying to

let you know that you won't know 1 year from now or 5 years from now, if you band slipped because you didn't follow doctor's orders, or because you would have had a slip anyway. I am not judging anyone. If my band slips, I know it wasn't because I didn't follow the rules.

And I don't remember whoever said if (I) or we could stay on liquids for

weeks, we are so disciplined that we didn't need the surgery. I was very disciplined with every diet I ever tried the first few weeks. I could lose weight but I always gained it back plus more.

The band is the reason I am at goal, not because I am disciplined. After I got all my fills, I was satisfied on a very small amount of food.

That never happened on any other diet.

The reason i have not posted is because i am scared as hell!! I scared to right anything or ask anything! Everything i say gets taked wrongly!! When i said i do things my way, it was in a since a joke metioning how stubborn i am. I did so well with the pre-op liquids, and farely good with the post opp liquids!! Now im on pureed i guess i just dont see the difference in me chewing to liquid form, and putting it into the blender?? I need help, believe me i know!! Im crying right now, cus yall have made me feel terrible! I dont like how people are talking about me, saying i will not suceed, i know i will! I have came this far! I dont need permission, or validation, all i was looking for was, keep your head up, get back on track and we all mess up!! I just needed to know i wasnt alone!! I was not looking for someone to say yea i cheat so you can too!! I really wish people would stop assuming!! I wish i never asked for help, wished i never posted!! I feel worse now than ever! Yall have made me feel like its too late now, might as well give up!! The worst part is i dont like people being mad at me!! Now i feel like everyone hates me!! I just need help! I dont know what to do anymore! My doc is not the greatest, all they pretty much said was add Water and a blender!! How appealing is that?? I feel so alone and confused!!

Im sorry to every one! and thank you for your advice. But i guess i am a failure!!! I mean now what?? I guess i already screwed up!!

But please just forget this whole thing!!!

If you're serious about wanting to do things right, then by all means follow the advice of all the (very well-meaning) long-term bandsters who have posted here.

Your first post sounded rather off-putting, that you were going to do it your way no matter what you were told. However, if everyone here just misinterpreted, then please understand their responses are only intended to help, whether it be with soft and cushy replies, or tough-love replies. The people who have been here and been successful for so long do wish to see the same success in everyone else who comes through this site, and anything they can do to help, they will. If they think you need to hear something you may not want to hear, they're going to tell you. That's how it goes, and in the long run, that's much more supportive and helpful than just agreeing with, and validating, someone who wants to do things their way, regardless of the consequences.

However, no one here hates you, or anything even close. If you're here looking for real support and real help and you're doing your best to follow the rules given to you by your doctor, then we are ALL here to support you. Every single one of us. We will give you every piece of advice and info we can and we'll pass along every single thing we've learned in any manner that we're able. That's what this place is all about.

It's really damn hard sometimes, we know this, we're all living it. But things do get better. Just make sure you do the best job you can of taking care of yourself for your OWN future health and happiness.

Good luck and best wishes.

I doubt anyone here knows you well enough to like you or hate you. The issue is not if anyone is mad at you, the issue is that you need to get a grip here. You are 19 years old, old enough to be responsible for your own actions.

Nope, food is not appealing at this stage but it won't hurt you. We all have to go through it and we all survive it, you will too. It is a very short time out of your entire life to not like the food.< /p>

Good luck to you.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
