Explain your perfect restriction and how much you could eat

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if everyone could try and explain what there "perfect" level of restriction feels like? How much were you able to eat?

Also I'm curious to hear from the many people that say their fills kick in after a week or two?? I just had a fill on Sat. and seem to be doing fine today, my first day back on solids. I had a Protein bar for Breakfast, 1/2 of a grilled chicken salad w/ lowfat dressing for lunch, but then about 4 hours later I was starting to get hungry so I had a cup of shredded wheat and bananas (with alittle bit of 1% milk). Should I expect more restriction later on?????

Thanks for any feedback :)

Monica

I like the feeling I get with the little sigh, and I sit back from my plate a minute. I remember doing this plenty of times in the past before I had my band, and I associated it with "This is good! I want some more!" Now I have to change my brains association to the feeling. Unfortunately right now I'm a little too tight, and haven't had that feeling in a while. Going for a little unfill tweak next week. Right now almost every meal brings that uncomfortable tightness, and I hate it. :)

HEY i HAVE A QUICK QUESTION? I HAVE 10CC BAND IM AT 6CC I HAVE RESTRICATION BUT IF I EAT SALADS I CAN EAT A LARGE SALAD BUT IF I EAT MEAT I CAN ONLY EAT A COUPLE OF BITS AND I HAVE THE TIGHT FEELING IN MY CHEST. SO DO I NEED A ANOTHER FILL. I HAD MY SURGERY AUG 2008. I DONT WANT TO GET TOO MUCH FILLED IN A 10CC BAND

THANKS

Melissa, in my opinion you aren't in need of a fill. It sounds like if you get one you won't be able to eat protein at all. I, too, can eat salad well. It must get chewed into slider food and go right through the band because of the high water content. Of course, some ppl can't tolerate salads the way we can.

Try seeing if you get other sorts of signals...they may be things that you normally wouldn't associate with eating...runny nose, sneeze, hiccup, burp, a little sigh, sitting back for a moment rather than going on to the next bite (the runny nose thing seems to be one of the more common ones...has to do with the vagus nerve)...these are all possible signals of the "soft stop" which is where we should be aiming to stop eating. If you stop at that point, you'll usually find that 10-15 min later you'll feel comfortably full. It's tricky at first, but when someone clued me in on this, it made ALL the difference in the world...

I did not know that this was a signal for fullness. I keep thinking i was catching a cold or swine flu.
