Wow McMadame, awesome! I want to be where u are very soon. I keep working on my endurance, but the thing holding me back seems to be mainly my shins. Bad shin splints whenever I run. the impact seems to do it to me, so I'm very happy for u and cant wait till you report that youve done it.

Suzanne, great start! the hardest step is the first one. I just did the Komen here in West Palm Beach. I hope yours goes better in May than mine did. It was one of the coldest days here, but certainly the coldest Komen reported here... For most ppl the cold wont sound impressive, but its a big deal here. you might see from my signature here that i finished better than my first 5k, so I'm proud of my start. Ours had over 21,000 ppl, HUGE. I'm pulling for you, so best of luck with it.

Renewed, I cant believe you have to move in a few weeks on top of this procedure you had...u r like superwoman!

Have a good weekend all, I'll post if i can. I want to do 5k worth both Sat and Sun, I'll let you know.

Carol

slinky, DH said that I picked a bad tiem to have my revision, but is there a good time??? I really feel good. I may not be exercising real consistantly till after the move. There is just so much to get done. Feeling a little overwhelmed, but ready to get out to our place!!

Thanks everyone! You guys are all such inspirations. Used to I wouldn't even read this board, I guess I felt guilty. Now I'm so excited for it.

Has anyone put the podcasts on an iPod Shuffle? My future son-in-law is doing it for me tomorrow. I'm new to this stuff. I was just wondering how many weeks will fit on there at a time. It's only 1gig.

Tonight I'm doing Week1 Day2! Woot!

1 Gig is huge..they will all fit on there no problem.

The weather here in Wisconsin is meant to warm up this weekend! Yes an amazing 35F for the high!!!!! WOW!!!:confused:

There is a 15K run tomorrow (9.3 miles) i am thinking i WANT to do but i have to see if someone can watch my kiddos. I totally have not tappered for it either!! lol..typical last minute stuff from me.

I would be looking at a time of 1hr 30min - 1hr 45min i think.

Ill let you know if i get to do it or not.

Shin splints can be treatable. There are alot of exersise you can do to make it much better. Try and read up on it.

Well if no outdoor ru tomorrow it is going to be double spin class and 10K at the YMCA where its nice and warm

Hello Old friends and new friends. I am back from 3 weeks in St. Martin and 5 pounds heavier!! I am not to worried it will come back off. Back on the treadmill in the morning.

Kathy -Good news. I got my new job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited. It was a long interview process but I did it. Boy has my life changed in the pasted 6 months. It stated with my lap band. I have completely re-invented myself. It has been hard work and worth every blister, uneaten bite of ice cream and every mile I have run. I am proud of myself and all of you.

If someone is reading this and "considering" a lap band or starting a running program - do it!!!!!!! It will effect every aspect of your life.

I NEED OPINIONS FAST!!!

Ok, my c25k friends i need any and all opinions but fast, I found a race next weekend at a lake located in a nearby town. Its on valentines day, but of course i'll be doing it on my own, hubby's not gonna do it as hes not even remotely a racer. Anyway, this is a 6k...weird distance i agree, but I believe that the reason for it is that the lake the race is centered around is 6k around. I need opinions...I believe its timed, even if not i'm considering it; but, am i over reaching for the extra .6 miles, and is it too soon??? Tomorrow i'm gonna try an extra lap around the lake behind my house, that would be more than the 6k, but would give me a good estimate on if i could do it... I trust your opinions ladies and Whosya. I will take your opinions into account b4 i go to register online.

Thanks much,

Carol

Hello Everyone... I'm back! I'll first get to some quick responses...

Hey Guys! I did it, I did the first day! It wasn't too bad and I feel better mentally today, so I'm really glad I did it. I hope I can make a habit of it.

Welcome Suzanne... and congrats on week 1. Its the hardest one cause of the decision to do it! Enjoy the ride!

I'm finally back up to week 6 after a few setbacks....

Anyway--I did the 20 minute run the other day and managed to do it without stopping!

Pnw... Congrats! That first 20min full out run was so hard for me. You are truly a runner!

I NEED OPINIONS FAST!!!

Carol... go for it! Don't set any time/speed goals, just do it for the experience! I think you'll love it.

Lyn... I'M SO HAPPY AND PROUD FOR YOU!!!!!! I have been waiting so patiently, hoping and praying that you would get the job! Funny how it happens. You praying for me to get mine, in place of you... and now, as my new job gets better and better, you get your dream job! I'm so happy for you! Glad you had a wonderful vacation too! BTW, when do you start?

Georgia... congrats on the weight loss, and the speed!

Renewed... I'm glad you're healing up from the revision. When will you be able to run again?

Ok, now for my update... OMG, St Paul was COLD!!! And you know that must be cold coming from a Canadian! LOL. Whosya would know what I'm saying, as he is just a little ways away from St. Paul (and a bit North I think!)

My week was amazing. I met with all of the people I need to work with, and I think I impressed them. They kept saying "You've only been with us for 3 months? Wow, you've certainly picked up a lot!" So that was fun.

I only got to the gym once as my schedule was really busy. The hotel treadmill was aweful too. So I have a bit of catching up to do on the individual challenge. I've already conceeded defeat to the Power Team on the team challenge!

Ok, for the NSV's to add to my list... some of these are achievements on my list of goals!

* I FIT PERFECTLY FINE IN AN AIRPLANE SEAT!!!!

This is huge for me. The last time I flew was Nov 2007, and it was horrible. I needed an extension on the seat belt, and was sitting with my work colleagues, so was really embarrassed. This time, I sat in the middle seat on a crowded plane and had lots of room.

* I WALKED THROUGHOUT THE AIRPORT EFFORTLESSLY, AND TURNED SOME HEADS!!!

This was fun. I bought a new winter white coat that is very st ylish and was wearing my slim, sexy new jeans, which together make a nice outfit. I could just feel the eyes of some guys watching me... and man was that fun!

* PEOPLE NOTICED HOW LITTLE I ATE AND COMMENTED THAT "YOU FIT PEOPLE EAT SO WELL"

LOL, that almost made me gag when they said it. Here I am eating small amounts due to my band, and these guys who took me out for dinner are ordering 22oz steaks, and I'm ordering salad and fish. One guy says, "Wow, when I travel I just pig out. You must really be dedicated to your fitness to eat so well all the time". That was fun!

Ok, so enough NSV's. Let's just say I love my band, but I love running even more. I never would have gained the health and level of strength and fitness I have today if I hadn't started running this last summer. So for all the people new to C25k... keep it up! It's so worth it!!!

Glad to be home. BTW, I'm still stuck at 193.5, no loss still.

Kathy~ Sounds like you had a great trip! What fun to turn some heads and hear such positive comments from you colleagues.

Lyn~ Congrats on the job!

Carol~ Go for it. It will be a fun experience and you can walk if you need to. I did my first 5K several weeks before I actually finished the program and I found the whole experience to be great and motivating!

I am off to do a trail run today. Should be fun! Just keeping an eye on the weather don't want it to be too muddy - we had some rain last night and this morning, it is supposed to clear off by 12 - hope so!

DH and I are going together, of course we will run seperately most of the way but should have some time together. He has his short 4mi today, so he said he would mark the trail for the 1.5 turn around for me, that way we should finish about the same time, well in theory! It should be fun to get out on the trails and not just road run!

Kathy, that's so awesome that a) they think of you as a fit person and :cursing: you can eat in public and people see what you eat as normal. Those are two of my goals, too.

So, I only got in one Coach to 5K run this week. That means I have to do it again next week to say I've really completed the program. Oh well.

Oh and I forgot to say, I have a dilemma. I was going to sign up for a 5k on March 22nd. But I signed up for this swim clinic and the last day is the 22nd.

So now I have to find a new 5k to do. I want to do it about a month before my triathlon (April 19th) but even three weeks before would work.

Great to see you all doingso well. I did week 6 day one today and it almost kicked my a$$, It was way harder the 20 minute run last week. Of course I ran the first 5 minutes at an 11.5 minute per mile pace and my normal pace up till now has been 14.5 to 15 minutes per mile. I'm already looking forward to my next run on Monday. I tweaked my knee on the weight machine yesterday and it's still a little sore "but not when I run" what types of stretching and lifting are yall doing to supplement your running?

So far its unanimous...even me. today i did 4 miles (thats 5x around the lake behind my house) and did it in 1 hr, 1 min. So now i know i'll be able to do a 6k with no problem. I'm gonna take Kathy's advice and do it no matter if i get a decent time or not, and Whosya's advice to do it for the experience. So, no more thinking about it. I'm doing it!!! It'll be something to look forward to on valentines day. lol. take care i'll let y'all know how i do.

Carol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
