I'm soooo behind on posting it's not even funny.....

I will be doing another day of week 2 today. I'm hoping today will be my last day doing week 2, but I may go another day. We'll see how today goes. I did notice during my last run that I had a much better stride. More rhythmic I guess.

Renewed~ 8 minutes is INSANE!! Right now, I just can't even imagine being able to do 3 minutes, lol. WTG! You are doing sooo good!

Sheesh, what a workout this morning. I was so excited to do day 2 of week 4 and right after the warm up a guy got on the treadmill right next to me and he immediately turned the treadmill to fast run and was making a lot of noise with his feet and I looked over and he was holding onto the side handles and slamming his feet down as he ran. He would do that for about a minute and half and then stop treadmill tie his shoes, stand up, run fast normally for a minute, stop it, adjust shoes, start up and stomp/run again, stop, tie shoes, run regular----and he kept up that pattern during MY entire run!!! It was so annoying. I had to just keep looking forward out the window and TRY to tune him out. I even had my ipod turned up and could still feel his feet stomping. I thought for a minute he was wearing work boots his feet were so loud!

Bonnie~ Wow, that is annoying! If he needed to adjust his shoes THAT much, I think he needs a new pair. You shouldn't have to adjust your shoes that often! That's just strange!!!!

Holy Heck! 8 minutes is a looooooooong time! lol The first 8 was hard, but the second 8 was just.... I dunno the word for it!! Insane, maybe?

BUT.... I DID IT! I am so excited right now. I can't say I felt this good right after cause I thought I might die. But now, I am so thrilled. I can't believe I can run for 8 minutes straight.

Bonnie - I dunno how you kept going with that guy next to you! See how dedicated we are all becoming?

Renewed - I can't wait to here how your attempt at the 20 minutes goes. I am full of self doubt at this point. From 8 minutes to 20 minutes? Are you kidding me? I'm going to have to do a whole lot of positive self talk for the next couple of days to talk myself into this!

whosya - OK, nekkid treadmill running? Are you crazy? LOL Not even a visual I want to think about!

Sugar - glad you are back at it after your EVLT. You go girl!

Ok mamato, here's what I have come to. On our 8 minute run we actually ran 16 out of 21 minutes. The first 8 was bad but not unbearable. I am thinking that i will just keep going. I will run as long as I can physically stay on the treadmill. I didn't think a week ago I could run 8 minutes and WE BOTH DID IT!! So, the sky is the limit!!

I was looking ahead and we only have to do this 20 minute thing once for now. Week 6 starts with 5 and 8 minute running segments. Week 6 mix 2 is 10 minute running segments, and then 25 minutes on mix 3. So......just once.....surely I can hang on for 20 minutes just once!! Then it's back to some more doable intervals for a few days. 8 minutes won't seem so bad once we've done a 20 minute interval. I don't know if it's physically possible for me to do or not, but I am going to get on and run, and then I'm going to just keep running (Run, Forest, Run!). So, this run is tommorow. I am already trying to gear up mentally! I'll let yall know how it goes.

I guarantee I won't be running it naked!! LOL

Bonnie, I would have been tempted to trip the guy at the gym (just kidding)

I am trying to think of the part of my body I am most proud of, and I really can't single one out. So, here is my list. (A list of parts of my body I like!! Whodathunkit!!

- From a 42DD to a 38D bra (and it's too big)

- I have ribs (DH loves to count them)

- my back doesn't have any rolls and I have a waist. (DH would say my waist from behind is my best asset :) )

- I am losing my tire

- My arms are starting to look muscular

- My thighs are very muscular

- My neck and shoulders

- THE BIGGEST ONE......Would probably have to be that I have bones!!! All over my body, I HAVE BONES!! Shoulder blades, pelvic bones, hip bones, ribs, collar bones, ankle bones!!

The thing I want to change the most..... I HATE this flap on my lap!!!!! I want a Tummy Tuck in a major way!!

I have been pretty down about my lack of weight loss lately. Thanks for making me think about what is different. I REALLY am becoming a different person before my very own eyes!!

Ya'll I need a kick in the butt! I have been sitting here at work dreading going to the gym today. I didn't go yesterday. DH and I went out to eat. I did good with my meal plan, so I don't feel guilty. I just hate to go to the gym today. I'm not looking forward to my run tonight. Earlier this week I was stoked. I want to go home and take a nap. I need some motivation!

Renewed girl you've done great! Your weight loss will pickup. Just look at the changes in your body. You go girl!

Ok Leslie... here's your kick in the butt! Remember that 5k run that you want to do in the Fall... it won't happen unless you go to the gym and do your run... also, remember how good you feel after you actually do the run... you can't feel that if you don't go to the gym and run!

Ok, naked treadmill running.... NO WAY... my girls already hurt enough bouncing around while being confined in the sports bra... imagine the pain of a free bounce! Not an image I'd even want to imagine!

Consider yourself kicked Leslie!! You will be so glad!! So, get up and go to the gym!!!!!

Good point Kathy. My girls are soooo sore since I started running. I have got to get a better fitting sports bra. They are tired of bouncing!!

I did it! I'm SO glad. It wasn't hard at all tonight. I think I'll be ready next week to move on to week 2. Now - I am tired and of course I have sweat pouring from me like niagra falls. After each interval was over, I looked down and thought - I could go a little longer. Thanks for the butt kicking ya'll - I needed it!

Enell Sports Bra - Welcome

i was ready to get duck tape out - but these sports bras are incredible - NO bounce. they're pricey, but my SIL found some new ones on ebay for $25 and she's also hooked....

Leslie, I felt just like you today. I didn't want to run at all. I've been on liquids from my fill and I have NO energy. I sucked it up and did it anyway. Man, that last interval seems like it last 5 minutes. I feel like I could sleep for 5 days....I'm soooo tired, but I'm glad I did it.

I did another day of week 2 today. I still don't think I am ready to move on so I will stay on week 2 until I'm ready. I can really tell that my stride is improving every time I run. It actually felt more like a run today instead of a waddle, lol.

I'm so glad I have ya'll for support. If I didn't have to be held accountable on this thread, I probably would have scratched my run today. Thanks for all the support and inspiration. Everyone is doing such a good job and it inspires me to keep going.

Georgia - I do not like to get out of bed to run, but once I am out there it feels good. I sweat like a stuck pig, but the feeling I get when I finish is amazing. And yes, the support and the accountability from this thread has been wonderful. Thanks!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
