Hey guys!

Thanks for updating everyone Renewed. We had quite a week. My son and I were both pretty sick and a family friend of ours, lost her son. I feel so bad for her. In the past 2 years, she has lost her mother, husband, and now son. She has no one left. Rough week.

I am feeling somewhat better. I've also had a rough week with food. Too bad my sickness didn't affect my desire to eat. I tend to turn to food for comfort. I am shaking it off and starting new again today.

I'm not up to running yet, so I will pass on this challenge. I will definitely catch the next one. As soon as I feel up to it, I'm gonna hit it hard. I'm thinking of doing another 5K on May 2nd, so I gotta get busy.

Everyone is doing soooo great!

GA~ Welcome back, sorry you had such a rough week. It is tough to watch someone you know lose someone and go through that pain.

Kathy~ I finally got the challenge, I'm in! This will be good motivation for me.

I ran on the treadmill today. It was cold and windy and I did not feel like running outside after sitting all day watching baseball.

I am trying to figure out how to fit my exercise into my schedule. I am swimming, running, biking and strength training. Tomorrow morning I am doing a bootcamp class with DD - should be fun, well, in a sick sort of way - LOL! It is nice having spring break, I can fit more into my day!

Oh boy have I been slacking off. I got a bit of a head cold from my DS, and I've been so busy with work, that the excuses seemed just so convienent!!! In reality, I just didn't do it!

I plan to get my butt onto the treadmill tonight to get back in the game. Especially since I'm doing my 2nd 5k race in just under 2 weeks!

If I don't run tonight... Please send me a kick!

Hello all of my long lost friends! I'm not sure I even know where to start again with you all. I've probably been gone way to long to fit in again!

Well, I hadn't exercised in a good 5 or 6 months. I embarassed to say that I have gained back some of the weight that I worked SO hard to lose. I have been hiding out due to pure humiliation. Life has been HELL and there literally has been no time to spend focusing on myself. SOOOO... now that I have spilled all of my excuses. I'M DONE!

I got on the treadmill on Monday and then again this evening and started the couch to 5K over from week 1. I thought about skipping a few weeks, but I figured since I haven't been working out in so long that I better start out slow. I'll see if I change my mind since week 1 seems entirely too easy.

I am so glad to be running again and I am watching what I eat again and I WILL finish what I started over a year ago. I joined a weightloss challenge at work and if I can manage to win I could win $600!

I hope you all have been well and I am looking forward to getting to know some of you who are new regulars!

ktork and suzanne - hey girls!

this is what i put on my tag line tonite on Facebook. back from my run. threw in 2 extra minutes of running! i discovered that i can do 1/4 mile in 3 minutes. YAY ME!!!

Im ready to move on to week 4. i actually enjoyed week 3 a lot! today was an add on of an extra day. and like most of u know i decided to take more than 3 days to do each week for extra conditioning. feeling pretty proud of myself even with no loss at yesterday's weigh in. like i said to the staff at my bari center, its entirely possible that im FINALLY building muscle from my running! i hope its true!

trying to look for a 5k for when i finish the c25k, but its getting to summertime and here summer is way too hot for races most of the time. hope i dont have to wait till the fall. late fall will be a better time weather wise. maybe i should come up to one of u for a summer race...lol <jk> :cursing:

tc all,

Carol

Carol - Hey! Glad to see you are sticking with C25K. I started week 8 last night. I can hardly believe it! Hey, check out Susan G. Komen, race for the cure for your area. I think their 5k is always near Mother's Day weekend across the nation. I run the Richmond VA race and it's May 9 this year. I'm even signed up for a timer chip!

Rene - So glad to see you back! Good for you for starting C25K again! I wasn't on here when you were before, I wasn't ready to exercise but I finally accepted it and am having fun with it! Angie is also starting again after having her baby.

I have to share an NSV with you guys. DH told me last night that he can really feel the muscles in my legs and that there is a huge difference! He's such a sweet guy and his complements come straight from the heart, so it meant a lot to me. Now if only my birthday suit wasn't too big! :cursing:

Thanks, DE. I'm already on active.com and get their announcements about upcoming things in my area. I'm looking other places too. theres a race coming up but it's next week i think and it has swimming in it. Even though i live in FL, i'm not a swimmer. I can hold my own in the shallow end of a pool, but not sure i could do 500 yards. may take an adult swim class over the summer, but not sure of the time committment and work issues right now. But i appreciate the suggestion!

Suzanne, I did the Komen in January. Thats when they have it here because of the heat around mothers day. I did ok but that was one intense race mainly because of the sheer number of ppl. It was also flippin COLD on race day. In the 40s which is a very big deal here on a typical day, let alone for a race.

Great suggestions all, and thanks for the support. I'll let y'all know if i find something.

Carol

So, it is spring break and I decided that I would really try to fit more exercise in this week, without having the pressure of work. Great idea!

On Tuesday morning I head out with DD to a bootcamp class and I proceed to hurt my lower back by setting a weight back on the rack - you can stop laughing now! OMG, I can hardly walk, went to the dr yesterday and I have a sprain, basically I sprained my fanny - how embarassing is that! I am off for about 2 weeks with very limited activity and should be 6 weeks before it is completely healed!!!! ARGH!!!!

My general physician was pretty funny when I went in. I kept asking what can I do? How soon can I run? Can I swim? What about riding my bike? He said he would have never thought he would hear me ask those questions. He assured me, I should be able to start walking on a flat surface within a few days, but I have to take it easy or my back will not heal and I will be out of commission for longer!

This is killing me! Okay, enough whining, just had to share.

krtork, so sorry about the sprained rear. Take good care of yourself so you will heal properly and can get back into your routine sooner.

Carol, wow SGK in January, I would have never guessed. My son is in the Navy and is currently at PCola, he complained all winter about how cold it was down there this year.

Welcome back Mamato! I'm so glad you are posting again. I haven't been doing so hot myself lately! I've been walking with a couple of friends of mine and I've been encouraging them start the C25K. IF they decide to do it, I will probably do it with them from the beginning. I may run straight runs on the "off" days, so I can train my 5K in May! Anyway, so glad you are back! Keep us posted okay!

Carol... no need to kick my butt :crying: I was out of town the last 2 days so I ran at the hotel. Unfortunately, I left my iPod at home so no logging the run! I now have just over a week before my next 5k.

Mama... welcome back! I've thought of you often and am glad you're back. I hope your DH is healing up well. Don't beat yourself up about the setback. That's the beauty of the band... it can always catch you!

Georgia... how are you feeling?

Wow, everyone is doing so well on the C25k group. I've lacked a bit of motivation since I was sick. But I know it will leave soon. I've plateaued again on the scale, but know I'm dropping fat as my clothes are getting loose again. I'm now completely in a size 16 (not tight) and hoping to see a size 14 by my birthday in May. That would be sooooo amazing. I have never worn a size 14 as an adult. I was 12 years old when I hit size 16++++. Now I'll be in that size, but with all the right curves!

OMG... I took my body composition measurements today. I know my scale is not perfect, its only to be considered "directional", but the results said that I am at 28.5% body fat (down 7.0% since Feb 9). This puts me in the "acceptable" category!!! I'm no longer considered "obese"!!!!!!

OMG I can't believe it!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
