No Restriction Whatsoever

Recommended Posts

doc Wants Me To Have My Esophagus Tested, And Also Do A Barium Swallow. His Nurse Says He Wants To Make Sure There Is No Erosion. I Was Filled Lastweek To 4cc's. From The Time I Left His Office, All Restriction Was Gone. I Have Been Able To Eat Everything. All The Things I Could Not Eat Before, I Am Eating. Will Somebody Please Ease My Mind. They Are Making Calls To Set Appts. For Me To Have These Tests Done, And Meanwhile I Have Already Gained 3-4 Lbs. I Have To Wait And Call Them On Thursday To See What Is Going On. Could There Be A Different Reason That This Is Happening. Where Did My Restriction Go? I Want It Back In A Major Way.

Was the Fluid still in your band? This happened to a friend a few weeks ago. She went from good restriction to nothing and it had been several months since the last fill. She had a fill and still nothing. Turned out her band was not holding fluid so indicated a leak either from the port tubing or there is a chance that the tubing has disconnected from the port. The second option has happened to three people I know who all had the Swedish bands. Good that you are having it checked out - best of luck

thanks. I Had My Esophagus Checked And Everything Came Out Normal. There Were No Erosions Or Anything To The Lapband. The Baruim Swallow Also Showed The Band To Not Be Too Tight. He Filled Me Up To 4 Cc's And Still No Restriction. He Thinks The Port May Need To Be Replaced. I Go Back On Monday And He Is Going To See How Much Of The Fill Comes Out If Any. I Know There Is A Leak Somewhere. There Is Just Absolutely No Restriction At All. Luckily I Have Only Gained Back About 3 Lbs. I Will Report Back On Monday. Wish Me Luck Guys.

well, Looks Like I Will Be Having My Port Replaced Next Monday. When He Stuck Me With The Needle, Nothing Came Back. Funny Thing Is, Since Coming Home I Can't Seem To Keep Too Much Down. What Is Up With This. I Had Some Wheat Thins, And I Could Not Hold Them Down. I Feel Some Restriction. I Wonder For How Long Though. Anyway, Surgery On Monday.

Hey, it is good to know that it is going to be sorted out for you and if you have a little bit of restriction now, hopefully it will last until Monday.

Take care

Marion

If you don't like bad news don't listen. I was having the same problem several weeks ago. i had been filled to 10 cc and had good restriction. one week later zero restriction. i went in to find there was no Fluid in the band. after two more fills under fluro with two different dr's and the same results i decided i needed to go back to my surgeon in Mexico. After three days of test and a lot of hard looking they found the leak. The bad news is that it is near the port inside the abdoman wall. The only reasonable explanation for this would be a failure of the band itself. So after calling the manufacturer do you think they want to help me . If you guessed no you are right. They sent me a cute little 16 page CYA pdf file. Needless to say I am not happy at all. Not sure what my next move will be. I have managed to loose a total of about 85 - 90 lbs in 18 months and have put back on about 15. So i am feeling pretty good but still 50 lbs from my goal. The good news is that I feel good enough to exercise now and I have learned a better way to eat and manage my food. I just hope to gain some faith in that and go forward. But I won't lie to you I am nervouse for what could happen if I am not careful.

I'm having a barium swallow next week to test my band as well. I have 9cc in a 10cc band and can pretty much eat what I want. bread, meat, nothing is a problem. I occasionally get stuck if I eat too fast but once that clears can continue eating. I had all the Fluid removed and put back in last fill and it was all there so no leak. I hope it's nothing more serious.

It's great that they were able to diagnose you so quickly. I also had a problem with my port and tubing. As a result my band wouldn't hold a fill. They fixed the problem during out-patient surgery and it was a breeze! The pain was minimal and I was only out of work for one day. The surgery was in the morning and I was home resting by the afternoon. It is so much easier than the initial surgery!

The reason you may be feeling a bit restricted is that the stomach may be irritated by the fills and the unfills. You are wise to drink liquids and let everything calm down a bit.

Once my port and tubing were fixed, I was able to get a fill and hit the sweet spot. It was awesome!

Now it's a few years later and I'm experiencing other complications... but they have nothing to do with the port situation...

Lots of Luck to You!

not sure what is going on, but this is the most restricted i have ever been. I called doc's office today and should get an answer tomorrow as to what my next move will be. I am scheduled for surgery on monday, but hell if i don't need it i definitely don't want it. I didn't think about my stomach being irritated, but i guess it can be. I have no explanation for this. He filled me twice before, and when he went back in, nothing came back, no Fluid whatsoever. Now he gave me 4cc's again and i am feeling restriction, i am sooo confused.

well, we are holding off on surgery for now since i am still feeling restriction. I hope i don't have to have it done, but i still don't have an answer as to why this has happened.

I have heard of people use the term sweet spot? Does that mean a comfortable fill? Good luck to you Sweety. I'm scheduled Aug 20th. 08 for my surgery and nerves have set in so I'm doing alot of research.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
