Depo Provera did the opposite for me. I didn't think I would ever stop bleeding. I ended up in the hospital with a low blood count. That shot was evil for me!

Oh, yeah..I almost forgot! My "first tampon" story.

When I was young, my mother wouldn't let me use tampons. I was at my friend's house and all they had were xl tampons and I needed one. So, her older sister told me, "Just stick it up there. No biggie."

Right. Except I didn't know you had to pull off the card board part.

So, I just "stuck it up there" and we went out to ride bikes. I got 1/2 way down the driveway and said, "I can't do this...it's too uncomfortable. The cardboard part hurts."

Needless to say, they all laughed their butts off at me. :) And, me, too. I never went back to pads after that, though.

Hehe I could see that being as my step mom was the same way she wouldn't let me use taampons either but she had the OB ones that dont have applicators. My first *try* was somewhat similar as I didn't get it far enough IN. lol found it to be totally UNCOMFORTABLE and said I would never try em again. Mom spotted the wrapper in the trash and confronted me then had a good chuckle when she explained WHY it was so uncomfortable. I was 11 I had no clue as I had been raised in a household where you didn talk about such things.

My step mom sat me down and explained it all. Well that was the day BEFORE the tampon thing. I noticed blood and totally freaked the day before but I had no idea why I was bleeding. she did sit me down after the tampon thing and explained why she didnt want me to use them.. (Whole toxic shock thing) and why pads were what I should use untill we figured out what my periods were gonna be like and once I got into the routine to make sure I changed them often.

Looking at the cups they sound like something I would like to try but not before I lose allot more. cause I have to really do a contortion act to be able to reach inside lol I certainly can't do it sitting on the toilet like they recomend. Tampons I can do standing with one fot on the tub or something.

I actually MISS BC pills. I learned by the time I was 17 how to manipulate my pills so that I didn't have my period when I didnt want it. lol like xmas holiday break etc. After son #3 and 2 other failed pregnancys I got my tubes done so no more BC for me.

I so seriously hate my periods enough at times I wish I could get the whole mess removed but I would hate being on hormones too I bet. I'm amazed. I am on my heavest day today and this month hasn't been bad at all. Only problem has been overnight.

The only tampons I ever had trouble with were Tampax with applicators. Those applicators complicate something so simple! I don think they're even on the market here now.

Stupid things, mustve been a man that designed them.

I love the applicators. I can never figure OB out. It seems soo akward to me.

I love OB when I'm traveling, or for my purse. At home, I still have the applicators. I was in a bind once and a friend had OB. It was soooo little, I was like, "How the heck is that going to do me any good?"

But, it was an amazing little sucker, and now I buy both.

(By the way, I love this thread! This is actually the stuff my gf's sit around and talk about. Real crap that women deal with.)

The old cardboard tampax applicators were ridiculous. The tampon would get stuck, they were rough and akward.

Their new 'pearl' design is nice though, never had problems with them.

the cardboard onces collapse if you're going too heavy and you lose grip on them. I stick with plastic.

Amen to that. I only use kotex anymore cause most of the applicators are either cardboard or dont have enough grip around them to hold onto when inserting them lol ! I like the rim on the kotex aplicators, Tried the tampax and nope slipped out of my fingers. This is another thing that might change as I get weight off since it can be a contortion act right now. lol.

So whats with this new thing of offering 2-3 sizes in one box. Its suddenly become almost impossible to find a large box of any one size. I normally buy the big boxes of I think 38-40 and I do pretty much use them ALL in one month. I get my daughter the regulars so If I am on a really light day I can grab a couple of hers. But for the most part I just use the one size, super plus lol.

I like the idea of the Novasure procedure and I was already looking for a ob/gyn anyhow and I found 5 different ones in this area that do the novasure procedure so I'm gonna see if any of those are accepting new patients. 3 of the 5 are female doctors also which I like. I don't care to much for some strange man doing papsmears on me lol

ugh wal-mart 90% of the time i go in there they don't have the shelves stocked. It's so annnoying!!! Seems like anytime I find a product they carry and start buying it regularly they STOP carrying it.. They did that to me on white rain hair products used them for years!! I adored their coconut Shampoo & conditioner. Been using their version of splenda called Altern. And at least twice in the last 6 months they have took it off the shelf totally for a couple weeks at a time with no warning, no reason WHY and at the same time claimed they couldnt get any splenda either.

Most other stores charge at least 2$ per bag more for splenda and noone else yet has a store brand in my area.

Novasure: NovaSure - About the NovaSure Endometrial Ablation Procedure

Something I am gonna look into to m ake my nightmare periods easier to live with.

A girl at work had that procedure done and she hasn't had a period since. But it is only for women who don't want any more children. Since I don't have any yet, I can't have it done.

I use "instead" cups, they are difficult to find here so I order online. But they are awesome. Someone stated that they thought they were expensive, but when they can stay in way longer than any tampon, it is actually less expensive.

If I can't find those, then of course I use a tampon. I can't stand pads, its like a huge diaper or something and there used to always be some spill over when I did use them.

Yea I have 3 kids already and there was 2 miscarrages in between the last 2 my youngest is 13 now so no more kids for me. lol.

I would just LOVE to not have a period anymore but heck if they can just be *normal* I would be happy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
