It's Done!! I'm Banded

Recommended Posts

Everything went well as far as I can tell. The staff was friendly and helpful. All 9 of us being banded that day were fun and we helped each other get through the morning. We had a lot of fun talking before our surgeries. I felt most at ease after talking to the surgeon, Dr. Ortiz. What a down to earth great guy he is!!! I know I chose the right doctor. I am two days post and am feeling pretty good. I just have to get rid of some gas and decide what to take for the little acid reflux I think I have. Otherwise, things are great. My surgery was done in Tijuana so I am close to San Diego. I have three former students who live and work in San Diego now, so I contacted them and they showed me around town. I probably walked too much, but it was good to get out. I fly back home later tonight. I am so glad that the process is over, although, since I was self pay, my process was shorter than others. Everybody stay strong!! :tongue2:

Bando, How do you do it? Get banded and then go walking about? Wow! I got banded on Monday and I can't even imagine sitting in a car that long, going to the airport and sitting in a plane. Wow! Doesn't your port incision hurt? Pass on some of your strength, would you!? :0

I am concerned about my cousin who had the lapband surgery Tuesday, June 10th. She is still in the hospital due to being nauseated. Did any of you experience this problem? I am doing the six month diet for insurance purposes and will probably be having my surgery in the fall. I am getting a little aprehensive now.

I wouldn't worry. I stayed in overnight also and am VERY glad I did. I was able to get antinausea and pain meds IV that way and I definately used them both multiple times. I also felt way better when I came home that I would have if I had come home that same evening. Each time I slept from the pain meds and then got up and walked around I felt better. I think it's good to stay overnight, myself.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
