Protein Supplement Suggestions

I absolutely hate most of the Protein Shakes. Unjury is the least offensive that I have found but that one takes me awhile to get down. I have been pretty happy with South Beach Diet Meal Replacement bars which have like 20 grams and aren't too bad tasting. I am going to try to get some Protein bullets this weekend and those have 42 grams in a 3 oz vial, I am hoping that I can just hold my nose and do it like a shot  Good luck in your search :)

I really like the unjury chocolate....it tastes like chocolate milk to me. I am pretty picky and I have no problem drinking this. On their website they let you order a sample pack, so you may want to try that.

I also don't mind EAS Low Carb Chocolate Fudge drink. I get it at Walmart in a 4 pack, not as good but drinkable. The nice thing is it only has 110 calories and fills you up pretty good. That is all I ever have for Breakfast.

I have to say, I don't get the "protein drink" thing. I wanna eat my food not drink it. Protein drinks, on average have a couple hundred calories. Why drink 150 or 200 hundred calories when you can eat them? I don't get it.

On mornings when I don't have time for Breakfast, I have a South Beach Diet Protein Bar. They're about 200 calories and have, I think, 18 grams of Protein. And I get to chew it which keeps me fuller longer than a drink would.

My surgeon told me to drink sugar free instant breakfast after surgery and for a few days after fills, but didn't think the Protein Drinks were necessary, so I never did them.

I travel a LOT so I keep Protein powders for when I'm on the go and just can't find something (aka airports).

I really like the Syntax nectar ones. My favorite is the Roadside Lemonade. I like them because I got totally burned out on the whole vanilla and chocolate thing originally after surgery.

syntax does I believe now have van/choc, but I really like that lemonade. I want to try their peach one next. You do have to drink them really cold however.

I buy mine from drugstore.com

I like the EAS chocolate shakes pretty well. I agree that Syntrax Nectar-Roadside lemonade is really good! Not some gross thick shake. If you go to bariatriceating.com you can also order a sample pack to try out a variety before you buy a giant jar of something. Hope this helps!!:tongue2:

I like the New Whey Protein Bullets (order them online). They come in different flavors, and I would describe them as the consistency of Jello (before it sets). I like the fruit punch flavor the best. I add it to fruit punch crystal lite, and I've had no problem. I didn't think I'd be able to do the protein powders b/c I was on miedifast for 6 months when I was in high school, and I grew to hate it so much that I couldn't get it down. Plus, 21 g of the bullet is less than 90 calories (I think).

Diet direct.com and get WonderSlim..... They are the BEST... no after taste and they come in a ton of flavors.....I love to make the mocha one warm in the morning or at night... 100 calories and 15 grams of Protein...

I have a TON of unused shake types in my cupboard... I swear I could open a test kitchen for them LOL!!!

I hate hate hate the Protein powder taste.... wonderslim.. has none... The only flavor I am not a big fan of is vanilla...

chocolate.. chocolate mint.. mocha.. strawberry.. berry creme smoothie.... I like all of those

I like the Bolthouse Farms Protein enriched drinks. They come in mocha, hazelnut, and chai. They taste very good, are available in the produce section of the supermarkets, and don't have artificial sweeteners. They do have caffeine, however (an appetite suppressent) and make a nice breakfast or snack. You really need to keep track of your calories, though, 'cause they can add up fast.

Reading the thread made me hungry so I took a scoop of EAS soy protien, 2 c ice, about a cup of milk and thru it in the blender. It's one of the best things I've had so far. I may make it through the full liquid phase after all.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
